Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Nogue.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Florida in April of 2018 from Brazil. I was going to Law School in Brazil and thought about following the same path after I moved here, but the transfer of my grades and classes were complicated due to the difference between the laws from one country to another I would had to start Law School from the beginning… so I decided to look for another career.
I worked in many different places and felt pretty lost for a couple of months, until a friend of mine saw me drawing on a hot cup of coffee with a pencil and asked me if I had ever thought about tattooing?! I never really thought about that but as soon as he asked I couldn’t stop thinking about that.
I tried to look for a shop that would take me in as an apprentice but every time I would go into a tattoo shop to ask for an opportunity I was mistreated, I had shop owners asking me if I really thought I could make it in a industry that was made for males, I also had a shop owner saying that I didn’t even looked like a tattoo artist.
So I decided to buy supplies and started learning everything on my own.. I kept working hard until a shop finally accepted me for my work and not how I looked and now I have been tattooing for about 5 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any struggles that I have been through were more connected to the fact that working as an artist has busy and slow seasons. And getting through the slow seasons of tattoos and not quitting is not for everyone.

I’m a Tattoo Artist, specialized in fine line, black work and botanical designs.
