Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Samuel.
Hi Monique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After two years in family medicine, I felt drawn back to the fast-paced environment of emergency care — a passion sparked during residency. I enrolled in an out-of-state emergency medicine program, aiming to become double board-certified in both emergency and family medicine to better serve my patients.
Raised in Broward County, I knew I wanted to return to Florida, but to a city that offered new experiences with familiar warmth. Orlando stood out for its reasonable cost of living, rapid growth, diversity, strong healthcare system, and vibrant cultural scene. With many friends from home also relocating here, it felt like the perfect next chapter.
Since moving, I’ve met people who inspired me to take on new challenges — from competing in a CrossFit competition and breaking personal lifting records to creating plans to launch a business. I bought my first home, began investing in real estate, and started attending local events where I’ve connected with city and state leaders — the kind of rooms I never imagined being in before. Their influence has pushed me to grow in every direction.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. While there were minor challenges, the biggest one was learning to think outside the box, step out of my comfort zone, and see things from a new perspective — a shift that ultimately changed my outlook.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What do I do?
I’m a double board-certified physician in both Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. I practice medicine with a focus on delivering comprehensive, high-quality care in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
What do I specialize in?
I specialize in emergency care and family health — blending the ability to respond quickly in critical situations with a deep understanding of long-term patient wellness. This dual expertise allows me to serve patients across a wide range of medical needs.
What am I known for?
I’m known for being driven, adaptable, and ambitious — someone who doesn’t shy away from reinvention. I’m also recognized for inspiring others through my commitment to personal growth.
What am I most proud of?
I’m most proud of stepping out of my comfort zone to pursue emergency medicine, moving to a new city alone, completing a rigorous program, and building a multifaceted life in Orlando. From earning two board certifications to competing in CrossFit and engaging with local leaders, every challenge has contributed to my growth.
What sets me apart from others?
My ability to excel across disciplines sets me apart. I don’t limit myself to one identity or path; I lean into challenges, seek out uncomfortable growth, and keep expanding my impact in ways that blend professional excellence with personal evolution.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to try something new or ask for help. Growth starts when you step outside your comfort zone and stay curious. If something feels unfamiliar or intimidating, ask questions, do the research, and explore it. You won’t understand what you avoid. The more you investigate, the more you discover — not just about the world, but about your own strength and potential.
