Hi Nellie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business in 2021, during the height of the pandemic—like many people, I found myself with a little extra time and space to explore what truly brought me joy. I’ve always had a passion for decorating and would go all out for every celebration, from my own baby shower to my daughters’ birthday parties. It was something that lit me up, and I realized I could turn that passion into something more.
I began by offering to decorate for friends’ events, just to build experience and confidence. From there, I slowly built a portfolio, shared my work, and started getting inquiries. Word of mouth and repeat clients played a huge role in my growth. Now, four years later, I have a loyal base of amazing clients who return to me year after year for their children’s milestones, birthdays, and special celebrations. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m so grateful to be part of so many memorable moments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—event décor is a beautiful industry, but it’s also incredibly demanding. There’s so much more to it than meets the eye: from learning design techniques and sourcing materials to handling logistics, setup, breakdowns, and everything in between. Every event brings its own challenges, and I’ve had to learn a lot through trial and error. Each job teaches me something new and pushes me to grow creatively and professionally.
There have been slower seasons where business was quiet and moments where I questioned if I was doing enough. Then there are the really busy seasons where I’m juggling multiple events on my own, and it can get overwhelming. Doing this as a one-woman operation has its tough days, but the joy of seeing a client’s face light up when they see their vision come to life makes it all worth it. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been rewarding, and every obstacle has shaped me into a stronger business owner.

I’m the owner of Cari Luxe Events, a full-service event decor business specializing in custom setups for all types of celebrations—birthdays, baby showers, bridal events, kids’ parties, and more. At Cari Luxe, we focus on creating unique, visually stunning designs that reflect each client’s personality and vision. Whether it’s a small backyard gathering or a larger celebration, every detail is carefully thought out and executed with love.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is the simple moments spent with family—whether it was gathering around the table, sharing laughs, or just being together. While we didn’t have big celebrations all the time, those quiet, meaningful times taught me the value of togetherness. I think that’s why I’m so passionate about creating joyful, memorable moments for others now. Celebrations don’t have to be extravagant to be special—they just need heart.
