Daily Inspiration: Meet Juan Gutii

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Gutii.

Juan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My musical journey began with classical violin at the age of nine, and I spent several years performing in symphony orchestras before eventually transitioning to guitar, which has become my main instrument.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition from musicians I deeply admire, including Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, and Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake. I’ve also had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with talented artists like Dave Rude and Steve Brown from the legendary band TESLA . Through these experiences, I’ve worked as a music producer, session guitarist, and composer on projects with Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated artists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A challenge I’ve had to deal with in the music industry is the lack of fair compensation from streaming services. While these platforms have revolutionized music accessibility and helped independent artists reach global audiences, the financial return per stream is often extremely low. This makes it difficult for many musicians—especially those who are self-funded—to sustain their careers through streaming revenue alone.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in guitar performance, music production, and composition, with a background that blends classical training and modern rock sensibility. I began my musical journey playing classical violin at age nine, performing with symphony orchestras before transitioning to guitar, which has since become my main voice as an artist.

I hold degrees in Music Production and Music Business from Full Sail University, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible talent. I’ve collaborated as a producer, session guitarist, and composer alongside Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated artists, under the mentorship of amazing musicians like Dave Rude (TESLA) and Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake). Juan has also collaborated with renowned musicians Dave Rude and Steve Brown, who are members of the legendary band TESLA.

One of the things I’m most proud of is earning recognition from guitar legends such as Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt, and Joel Hoekstra—artists I’ve long admired. This happened at a guitar contest where these legendary players were judges, the contest was called “So You Think You Can Shred” in which I had to play solo guitar in front of them. What sets me apart is my diverse musical foundation, from classical violin to hard rock and everything in between, and my ability to bring that versatility and emotional depth into every project I take on. People recognize me mostly for my guitar playing skills, both in studio and live, in which my life performances are a big part of my artistry. I have performed in places such as Kia Center, Dr Phillips Center, Monsters Of Rock Cruise and more.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Watching for the first time the video of November Rain by Guns N Roses, being initially fascinated by Slash’s guitar solos. Another great memory was the first time I saw TESLA perform live at the Monsters Of Rock Cruise, since they are one of my all time favorite rock bands.
