Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Orazi.
Hi CJ, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started tattooing in 2007. Mostly self taught for the first two years. Then I started working for a popular chain tattoo company in Orlando, Florida, and stayed with them for most of my career. I became manager of the shop and decided that if I was going to deal with all of these headaches of running a Shop, I might as well own one. So I started looking for locations to open my own shop and calling all my friends that I knew who were shop owners. One of my friends who owned two tattoo shops wanted to sell one so I bought it from him at the beginning of 2025 and here we are today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a Tattoo Artist has not been a very smooth road at all. But the joy runs as deep as the sorrows. Rowdy customers and crazy coworkers. Overbearing bosses. But the rewards outweigh the struggles and nothing good comes easy.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Vintage Tattoo Shoppe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in custom tattoos, and we also offer aesthetician services like permanent makeup lashes, eyebrows spa treatments, and fairy hair just to name a few. We currently have eight Tattoo Artist whose styles vary greatly.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find someone who pisses you off and does really good tattoos. You will learn something about yourself and hopefully pick up a few tips and tricks for tattooing along the way.
