Today we’d like to introduce you to Ambrianna Jones.
Hi Ambrianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in Polk County FL and I started my music career shortly after I graduated HS in 08. I would be featured on songs with local artist and from there I grew as an artist, doing shows, hostings, events etc and my music career really started to pickup. People knew me as the girl who could sing and dance so it made sense for me to pursue music, something I’ve loved since a little girl! I would pretend I was on 106& Park lol so that shows you just how far back my love for music goes. Before I started music I was a model/video model and I hosted clubs, once I got myself out there I introduced my own music and some people already knew I was talented and others were completely shocked that I had so much fire. I use to post 1 min long raps in my car and post them on social media and most of them went viral, I’ve been reposted by Plies, B.E.T, Glorilla and others but my biggest viral moment was when Cardi B reposted a video I did with my daughter. My daughter would see me making these rap videos in my car and she said “mommy I want to be in one of your videos!” I was shocked because I’m not thinking she’s paying attention to me but at that moment I realized she was, so I had to be mindful of the type of song I put out with her in it because she’s a child and at the time I was making music for adults, not appropriate for children. So I came up with this song called “Teach Me Mommy” which is the song by Cardi B and Bruno Mars called “Please Me” that song is obviously inappropriate for a child so I switched an explicit song to a kid friendly song, with no idea that it would go viral, cardi B reposted the video minutes after I posted it on ig because so many ppl tagged her. I was blown away because my daughter and I were known for something positive. The whole time I was doing music I was also working as a preschool teacher so it was easy for me to make a kid friendly song. After the viral moment I made a full song and shot a video and now on YouTube it’s at 15 million views and I also wrote a children’s Book from the song titled Teach me mommy! Since then I did take some time away from music, it just didn’t feel the same anymore, I had a great team that believed in me and supported me but my spirit was moving away from music, I didn’t want to rap about inappropriate things anymore but I was also afraid I wouldn’t be able to cross over because I was already known for the type of music I made so I battled with which direction I should go. During that time I also had twins so my lifestyle changed completely and I knew I had to make some changes, so now I’m working on myself, my spiritual journey and focusing on motherhood and womanhood, I spent so many years hustling and working on my career that I forgot to build a life that I love outside of my career. I plan to get back to music but it will most likely be Kid friendly music or Gospel, I feel the most authentic in those spaces. I’m currently a VPK Director prepping 4&5 yr olds for kindergarten with the hopes to opens my own preschool and continue to inspire and influence the culture through positivity and Love. 🫶🏽
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey was pretty smooth overall and I think that’s because I had a great team helping me along the way, but of course challenges will happen. The main challenge I would say would be navigating motherhood as well as working towards my goals and dreams, sometimes I missed out on certain opportunities because motherhood comes first, so it’s been times where I’ve had to reschedule or simply not attend certain events because my daughter may been sick or had an event at school. The lessons I’ve learned along the way was how to be patient, everything won’t go as planned nor will it happen on my time but Gods time, so I’ve had to learn how to focus only on the things I can control and just trust that the rest will work itself out.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer, rapper, songwriter, author and Pre-K teacher.
I’m known for my personality and talent, I’ve always expressed myself through music, teaching and even speaking. I was never afraid or shy to put myself out there, I love the way I do things and I shared my personality on the internet, my real life as a teacher and mom and people responded well to me.
I’m most proud of the positive influence my daughter and I had on the world with our song, so many people still show us love because of that song and people speak to Dakota when they run into us and sometimes Dakota will ask “who is that?” And I have to tell her I’m not sure but I’m sure they know us from the song we did lol.
What sets me apart is that I don’t try to fit in, you either like what I do or you don’t but I don’t try to appeal to the majority. I genuinely do me and I do what’s authentic to me. God blessed me with a big personality and I’ve always felt different from everyone. I’ve never met anyone who’s done what I’ve done, it’s possible but rare and I love that I can say I made a song so powerful for children that will live beyond me.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how many lives you’ve positively impacted, like how do people remember you? How do you make people feel? Etc, the peace you have and the love you have in your home, peace is so important because all of life’s problems can rob you of your joy and peace, so if you’re able to maintain your peace I believe you will always be successful because your soul is at peace. The love in your home matters more than the love outside, it’s so easy to build an image where people view you as successful because of what you’ve accomplished but the true success is the love that’s shown and felt in your home as well as how you make others feel, so success to me is more than money, nice cars, clothes and a big home, all those things are nice and we need money to take care of ourselves and our loved ones but there’s nothing better than loving yourself, the people in your home, being genuinely kind to others, and maintaining your peace through it all.
