Meet Dr. Luis W. Lopez-Rodriguez of Rapha Family Centre LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Luis W. Lopez-Rodriguez.

Hi Dr. Luis W., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got into psychology by mistake since biology was full.
I was suppose to change for the next semester but overslept and the next semester I took psych 101 and fell in love.
That’s when I decided that I wanted to become a clinical neuropsychologist.
I always had to grind to get what I wanted.
After im done with undergrad, I was not selected to the PhD program.
It wasn’t until someone dropped out, that I was awarded the opportunity.
during grad school nothing was given. I had to think outside the box to obtain the experiences needed to become a neuropsychologist
I went to the ends of the earth to do voluntary rotations and shadowing, just to gain expertise.
after I was done, I was struck by trauma.
I reconceptualized how I see the world due to this
now I have thriving neuropsychological clinic. – Rapha family centre
we are also opening non profit foundation that will provide mental health treatment to under privileged populations – The Nissi Mission
The foundation is the product of the trauma I experienced. I am now reconceptualizing my trauma to use it as fuel.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having to grind.
always been taken for granted
having to sacrifice and no one would see it
in grad school I had to not settle with what was given to achieve what I wanted to do.
after school, me and my family was impacted by trauma.
I had to see patients and help them heal while healing my self.

We’ve been impressed with Rapha Family Centre LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rapha Family Centre LLC is a Central-Florida mental-health practice where Christian compassion meets rigorous psychological science under the leadership of clinical neuropsychologist Dr. Luis W. Lopez-Rodriguez. Our bilingual, multidisciplinary team offers lifespan care—from neuropsychological testing for adult ADHD, dementia, and traumatic brain injury to veteran-focused Independent Medical Evaluations, DBQs, and nexus letters, as well as immigration evaluations for hardship waivers, U- and T-visas, and VAWA cases. Patients access individual, couples, family, and group therapy grounded in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and specialized neurocognitive-rehabilitation programs that target memory, attention, and executive-function deficits. Through partnerships with VSOs, law firms, churches, and community organizations, we extend evidence-based, faith-integrated services to veterans, immigrants, and other underserved populations. True to the Hebrew root of “Rapha”—to restore—we approach every client holistically, believing that healing the mind, body, and spirit paves the way to lasting wholeness.

What matters most to you?
I value God, my wife and my children. I obtain meaning from pursing being better than I was yesterday in these domains. I also strive to help others and I have made “setting my self on fire, trying to keep others warm” into a career. In the process, I learned how to put on a protective gear while doing it.
