Inspiring Conversations with Marina Parries of Natural Hair Really Rocks by MoeMo L.L.C.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Parries.

Hi Marina , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Marina “MoeMo” Parries, and my journey began long before my business ever had a name. I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, with deep Dominican roots. Growing up, I was raised by my grandmother — a strong woman who taught me the value of hard work, tradition, and taking pride in our culture. She called me “Moe,” and that name stuck with me through every chapter of life.

I moved to the United States over 21 years ago and built a life as a flight attendant, traveling the world and learning how to care for people from all backgrounds. But it was becoming a mother — and later homeschooling my youngest son — that grounded me and gave me new purpose. When I began my natural hair journey during pregnancy, I couldn’t find clean, effective products for my family’s textured hair. That struggle turned into research, trial and error, and eventually the birth of Natural Hair Really Rocks by MoeMo™.

What started in my kitchen with homemade oils and herbs passed down through Caribbean tradition has now grown into a full product line. I’ve poured my heart into each bottle — using ingredients like rosemary, bay leaf, amla, and fenugreek — inspired by the same remedies my grandmother once used. Today, I’m proud to say we’re not only helping families across the U.S., but we’ve officially expanded back into Trinidad, where it all began.

Being a mother, an entrepreneur, and a woman of Caribbean heritage has shaped every part of my brand. My mission is simple: to honor our roots, celebrate our natural crowns, and empower families to embrace the beauty of who they are — naturally.

And in the future, I hope to expand my impact through educational projects that teach healthy hair care habits to children in both the U.S. and Trinidad.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but every challenge helped shape the woman and brand I’ve become. As a wife, mother, flight attendant of over 18 years, and now a full-time entrepreneur, balance hasn’t always come easy. I’ve often had to build this business in the cracks of time between flights, family responsibilities, and homeschooling my youngest son, who has attention challenges. Every move I’ve made had to be intentional — because my time, energy, and money were limited.

Financially, there were moments I wanted to invest more into my brand, but simply couldn’t. There were supplier delays, inventory shortages, and moments of self-doubt — especially when orders came in faster than I was ready for. I had to learn quickly, pivot constantly, and keep pushing, even when I didn’t have all the answers.

On top of that, being a Caribbean woman with a bold vision meant not everyone understood or supported what I was doing — even people close to me. That lack of support hurt, but it also pushed me to go harder, to trust God, and to stay true to my purpose.

My background as a flight attendant taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think quickly, and communicate clearly — skills I use every day in my business. I’ve had to bottle oils late at night, respond to customers mid-trip, and create social content from hotel rooms across the country. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.

I’ve learned that growth doesn’t happen on smooth roads — it happens in the trenches, when no one is watching, and you choose to show up anyway. And that’s exactly what I’ve done.

We’ve been impressed with Natural Hair Really Rocks by MoeMo L.L.C., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Natural Hair Really Rocks by MoeMo™ is a toxin-free, vegan-friendly haircare brand that celebrates natural beauty and cultural pride. I created this brand to serve families like mine — those with diverse natural hair textures who were tired of using products filled with harsh chemicals that didn’t deliver real results. What started with handcrafted oils in my kitchen has grown into a full product line including our bestsellers: the Handcrafted Growth Elixir, Nutty Butta Leave-In Conditioner, Coco Jelly Curls, and our Nourishing Co-Wash.

We also offer natural hair essentials like satin bonnets, detangler brushes, and continuous spray bottles — everyday tools that protect and maintain healthy hair from wash day to bedtime.

We specialize in moisture-rich, family-safe products infused with traditional Caribbean herbs like rosemary, bay leaf, amla, and fenugreek. Each formula is made with love and intention — because our hair deserves ingredients that heal, not harm.

What sets us apart is our deep connection to culture and community. Our brand isn’t just about selling products — it’s about restoring confidence, educating families on healthy hair routines, and celebrating our natural crowns. We’re proudly expanding into Trinidad & Tobago, where I was born and raised, to give back to the communities that shaped me.

What I’m most proud of is seeing how my products and accessories are helping women, men, and children embrace their natural textures with pride. From flight attendant to founder, I’ve turned my personal hair journey into a mission that now reaches homes across the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m just grateful to be included in this platform. As a Caribbean-American wife, mom, flight attendant, and now business owner, I never imagined I’d be building something that’s touching lives across borders. My journey hasn’t been perfect — but it’s real. And that’s what I hope people see in my brand.

Whether you’re just starting your natural hair journey or looking for clean products for your family, Natural Hair Really Rocks by MoeMo™ is here to support you. We’re not just another beauty brand — we’re a movement rooted in love, culture, and consistency.

To anyone reading this who’s chasing a dream, I want to say: don’t wait for the “perfect” time. Start with what you have. Trust your gift. And always honor where you come from.
