Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Solano.
Hi Jimmy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Jimmy Solano, a Colombian singer-songwriter from Barranquilla, now based in Orlando, Florida. Music has always been part of my life, but it wasn’t until recently that I decided to share it with the world.
I wrote my first song, “La Dueña de mi Corazón,” 16 years ago for my wife—who was my girlfriend at the time. Years later, after meeting musicians and producers in Orlando, I was inspired to finally record it and take the first step in my musical career.
That experience—the mix of emotion, learning, and fulfillment—led to my second release, “Vengo con To’,” a vibrant and motivational anthem inspired by the personal growth I experienced through creating my first song.
My most recent single, “Dame una Noche,” is my way of honoring the salsa I grew up with. Though I co-wrote the song, it’s especially meaningful to me because salsa has always been my favorite Latin genre. It’s the music that filled family gatherings and childhood memories, and recording this track was my tribute to that part of my roots.
With each release, I aim to connect through honest stories and uplifting rhythms—music that speaks from the heart and resonates with real moments.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many independent artists, I’ve faced the challenges of building a music career without the backing of a major label—navigating everything from funding recordings and marketing to learning the ins and outs of digital platforms. Releasing music as an indie artist means wearing many hats, pushing through self-doubt, and trusting the process even when visibility feels out of reach. But it’s also incredibly rewarding to know that every step—from writing to release—reflects genuine passion and personal effort.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets me apart is that I write about real situations, emotions, and experiences that people can truly connect to. Whether it’s falling in love, chasing a dream, or finding closure, my songs are meant to feel personal—because they come from moments that are just as real to me. I believe music is most powerful when it reflects something we’ve all lived in our own way.
