Check Out Allison Crowder’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Crowder.

Allison, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was introduced to the beauty industry as a child, but grew my own passion when I began beauty school in 2015. In high school, I always knew I wanted to be in a creative field; originally I thought it would be fashion or textiles, but that shifted to beauty when I realized they all had their similarities, beauty was just a quicker path to getting started. I was 17, had moved out early, and needed to work; so I chose aesthetics.

Instantly, I fell in love with it. I was lucky to have opportunities early on that helped me grow quickly, and I’m forever grateful for that. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats: working in retail sales, beauty school admissions and education, retail education, technical education; traveling across North America to teach in salons and spas, doing editorial work like New York Fashion Week, and stepping into salon + spa leadership and ownership. It’s been a ride!

In the fall of 2023, I moved to Central Florida and found The Rose Spa. Jenna and Ryan McNutt, the owners, took a chance on me, and now I get to do what I love every single day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not always a smooth road; but honestly, where’s the fun in that? It was tough being so young, living in a big city alone, trying to figure it all out. I had moved to Denver, Colorado when I was 17, and was determined to make it work. At one point, I was working three jobs just to make sure I didn’t need any help. things shifted as I got older and more doors began to open, but I give all of the praise to those around me who took a chance on me when I was still so early on in my career.

I moved around a lot as a child but as an adult, Denver, Provo, Las Vegas, and now Central Florida, all in pursuit of growth and opportunity. Moving that much definitely came with its challenges, but I’ve never been someone who could stay stagnant for long. Every city has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and I’m grateful for the pressure.

Another challenge I often faced was simply my age. Being young worked in my favor sometimes, but in my early 20s especially, people often assumed I couldn’t handle the job. Proving them wrong became a bit of a personal mission – I hope they’ve enjoyed watching me succeed!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the general manager of The Rose Spa, a boutique Medical Spa located in Downtown Lake Mary. We focus on healthy, results driven treatments through Hands-on Facials, Hydrafacials, Chemical Peels, Microneedling, and Brow + Lash services – because it’s your skin and your confidence that matters most to us.

We’re especially known for our work with Acne and Microneedling; helping guests heal active congestion and treat lingering scars. It’s something we’re incredibly proud of – watching our guests gain confidence in their skin is the best part of what we do. We see our guests at their most vulnerable and are privileged to be a small part in their journey.

Personally, I’m always most proud of our team. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to grow the way we have. They show up with heart, hustle, and genuine care every day. We’re also beyond lucky to have the most supportive and loyal guests. The Rose Spa is something special, something in my almost 10 years in the industry I have never seen or experienced before. It’s hard to describe unless you’re here, but something you can immediately feel when you enter the building.

What really sets us apart is our approach. The sense of community we’ve built… between team members and guests alike, is something I will never take for granted.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor is something you should take seriously – because you really are who you surround yourself with. I’ve been lucky to have had several amazing mentors, but none of them happened by chance. I sought them out because they were doing exactly what i wanted to be doing. I wanted to be them or be like them more than I wanted to breathe, so I made it happen. When you think about your life and your dreams or goals, what does that look like? Really ask yourself that, then start showing up like it’s already happening for you.

If you see someone to look up to around you… just ask. Offer to help, shadow them, work for free, put in the time, do the work nobody wants to do. show up consistently and accordingly, and let your work speak for itself. When the right opportunity comes along, your name will be the first they think of.
