Whimsy Market started when Erica, the founder, launched Whimsy Waffle in 2020 as an online platform to help businesses reach the community during the pandemic. As the world began to reopen in 2021, this effort naturally evolved into Whimsy Market, offering in-person opportunities for local businesses. Her mission has always been to create meaningful connections between these businesses and the community, ensuring a supportive and memorable experience on both sides of the vendor table.
Nikki, the Market Coordinator, was the perfect addition to the team. Her attention to detail and organizational skills complement Erica’s vision, making them a dynamic duo. Together, they host monthly markets, provide regular networking opportunities for small business owners, and remain committed to supporting the community. Their work highlights the importance of small businesses as the backbone of a thriving community, showcasing the incredible talent and services right in your neighborhood.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Whimsy Market has been an amazing journey, though not without its ups and downs. One of the early struggles was navigating the logistics of vendor coordination and finding the right mix of vendors to create the perfect market atmosphere. There were also learning curves in marketing effectively and ensuring each event resonated well with our community. Over time, we’ve honed our processes and grown stronger with each event, continually refining our approach to make each market day even more magical!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Whimsy Market, we specialize in creating fun, free, and community-driven events that highlight small businesses and bring people together. We host monthly markets across Lake County and a Fresh Market in downtown Eustis, featuring a curated mix of local vendors, food trucks, live music, and creative experiences for all ages.
We’re best known for the vibe—there’s a sense of connection and community that people feel when they come to one of our events. It’s not just shopping; it’s about discovering local gems, running into familiar faces, and spending a meaningful day out with friends or family.
What we’re most proud of is the space we’ve created for small business owners to grow. Many of our vendors started with a single table at one of our markets and have since expanded into full-time businesses and some even opening a brick-and-mortar. Being a part of that growth, and watching those dreams take off, is something really special.
What sets us apart is the heart behind it all. We don’t just organize events—we build relationships. We are present at every single event, hands-on and involved from start to finish. So much happens behind the scenes, and we pour ourselves into the smallest details to make sure things run smoothly and feel intentional. From vendor placement and signage to music, layout, and community interaction, we’re thinking through all of it—because we truly care about the experience for everyone who shows up.
