Hi Shyra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started content creation on accident! Seriously, one day I uploaded a reel of myself at a Miami Heat game, it was halftime and I was enjoying the music and their mascot dancing the night away. I decided to upload the video and BOOM! It went viral.
I was instantly intrigued, I mean could I be a content creator? I had thought about it but never executed my thoughts. I took it as a sign and decided to dive into the creator pool.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? More like bumpy, with pot holes, cloud and rain. Of course there is sunshine and rainbows but, it’s an up and down ride of wins and losses. Expect to be to turned away from a brand you really want to work with, expect your social media not to grow over night, it takes hard work and dedication so don’t give up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My creative platform focuses on a few things, I don’t like to keep myself in one box, or niche. I like posting funny videos, fashion and most importantly UGC creator tips. I’m most proud of not giving up, I’m proud that I take the time to show up for myself despite having other responsibilities, if you want this creator life you have to show up! When I think about what sets me apart from other creators I like to think it’s my personality, I’m funny, down to earth and try a provide relatable, honest content.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In this business, you need others to help catapult you to where you want to be. You can’t do it alone! I mean, you could, but it’s going to take you longer.
I’d like to give credit to Floydie, over at UTG Agency. He was the first person to give me a paid deal, those wins don’t go unnoticed. My husband, Mike, he has to put up with me filming and taking pictures throughout our day trip, date night and everything in between LOL! He’s the real MVP! My daughters, Haily & Sofia are also supportive, they play my camera girls. It takes a village to reach success and people will play pivotal roles in that success whether they know it or not.
