Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Greene.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We founded Rhythm On 5th, LLC in 2023 out of a shared passion for dance and a desire to create a space specifically for adults. We realized there was a gap in our community—there weren’t any studios offering drop-in dance classes geared toward adults who love to dance for fun, fitness, and connection. Through conversations with colleagues and friends, we kept hearing the same thing: people missed dancing but didn’t feel comfortable jumping into youth-oriented studios or committing to long-term programs.
So, we took a leap and opened Rhythm On 5th—the first adult-focused, drop-in dance studio in our city. We started small, offering just one day of classes per week. Thanks to the incredible support from our growing community, we’ve expanded to three days a week with multiple class styles and levels. It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re proud to be building a place where adults can rediscover their love of dance in a fun, welcoming environment.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but we’ve definitely had some great opportunities along the way. One of the biggest blessings early on was finding a location for our studio through the Mount Dora Center for the Arts. They had available studio space, and it gave us a perfect place to get started.
Like many new businesses, one of our ongoing challenges has been building awareness and keeping classes consistently full. Since we’re a new concept in the area—an adult-focused dance studio with drop-in classes—it takes time to educate people that this type of space exists for them. We’re constantly learning, adapting our marketing, and looking for new ways to reach people who would love what we offer if they just knew we were here. It’s a challenge, but also a rewarding part of growing something from the ground up.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Rhythm On 5th is the first and only adult-focused dance studio in our city, and we’re proud to offer a welcoming, no-pressure environment where adults can rediscover the joy of dance. What sets us apart is our drop-in, pay-as-you-go model—no monthly memberships or long-term commitments. Our classes are open to ages 16 and up, making it easy for people to fit dance into their busy lives without added stress or obligation.
We specialize in a wide variety of styles, with classes for every interest and experience level—from complete beginners to those with prior dance experience. Our lineup includes Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Heels Dance, Jazz Styles, Lyrical, Contemporary, and two fitness-based classes: Barre Fitness and Rhythm Jam Dance Fit. Whether someone wants to move for fun, fitness, or creative expression, we’ve created a space where they can do just that.
We’re especially proud of the community we’re building—not just through our weekly classes, but also through special offerings like Company Team Build. This is a private dance experience designed for businesses that want a fun and interactive team-building activity. It’s a great way for coworkers to laugh, connect, and get moving together in a totally different environment.
What we want readers to know is that Rhythm On 5th is more than a dance studio—it’s a space for adults to move, connect, express themselves, and try something new in a supportive, judgment-free zone. Whether you’re dusting off your old dance shoes or trying dance for the first time, we’d love to have you.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has definitely played a role—especially in the form of the relationships we built within our community. One of the biggest strokes of good luck was connecting with the right people at the right time, which led us to securing our current studio space. Thanks to the support of the Mount Dora Center for the Arts, we were given the opportunity to use their space to launch Rhythm On 5th.
