Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Potente.
Hi Jason, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out working at an apartment complex in Cliffwood, NJ when I was 21. I found myself bored with the repetitive day by day maintenance, so I looked for something with more of a future financially. While in between jobs, a friend of mine offered to introduce me to his brother who ran a business with another gentleman who ran the business with his 3 sons. They specialized in kitchens and bathrooms, and I came on as part of the demo crew. The boss saw that I had the potential to do more, and slowly started teaching me every aspect of home renovations from electrical to plumbing, windows to doors and those little things only experience can teach you. By this time I was 25 and on my 3rd child and felt confident enough to pursue things on my own in order to be able to give my kids what they deserve. 21 years later, my wife and I decided moving to FL was in our best interests, and I’ve been hustling since day one to try and make my mark in my community and this state.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road to say the least. I’m the product of a single mother household due to the man who helped create me not accepting the responsibility. My mother remarried when I was 2, and the man I consider my father became sick when I was 12, which left my mother to care for him while I cared for myself and my sister. They found 5 tumors in his brain, and 2 days after what seemed to be successful surgery, he lost most of his memory and just wasn’t the same person. At 12, this was very traumatic and took the only male role model I had. While my mom was struggling to hold down the fort, I took advantage and started hanging with the wrong types of people. Although I always had a job, I had no real direction. At the age of 22, my first child was born. I refused to be anything less than perfect for her, so I would often work 3 jobs to be able to afford what we needed. Eventually, I landed the maintenance job in Cliffwood, and my journey began.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Potente Services LLC, we’re a remodeling business based in Florida that specializes in kitchen and bathroom renovations. In addition to those core services, we also handle handyman projects, realtor punch lists for both buyers and sellers, and a wide range of smaller home renovation jobs. Whether it’s fixing what’s broken or building something brand new, we help homeowners bring their vision to life — no matter the scale.
What I’m most proud of is the journey: moving to Florida without a set plan, but with a strong desire to build something with my own hands. With hard work, persistence, and the support of my family, Potente Services became more than just an idea — it became a reality.
What truly sets us apart is a deep-rooted work ethic, honest communication, and the ability to connect with each client on a personal level. We don’t just renovate spaces — we bring your ideas to life with care, creativity, and craftsmanship. I want readers to know that when they work with Potente Services, they’re choosing a brand built on heart, hustle, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
You have to be personable and open minded, especially to criticism. Listen to what people are telling you, like really listen, don’t just nod your head in agreement. It’s 2025, and you have to take advantage of the technology thats available to us. IG, Facebook, YouTube. Step outside your comfort zone, even if for just a moment. You may just find something you didn’t know you were great at.
