Life & Work with Michael Channel of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Channel.

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Michael “Ipenhed” Channel is a 38-year-old songwriter, producer, and mix engineer from Orlando, Florida. A graduate of F.I.R.S.T. Institute, Michael has built a strong reputation in the R&B and hip-hop scenes with credits that include Kevin McCall, Tank, Sammie, Jazz of Dru Hill, Brian Angel of Day26, Brian Michael Cox, Yung Ladd, and $K. Known for his versatile production style and meticulous engineering, Ipenhed is dedicated to creating timeless music that speaks to the soul, bridging classic emotion with modern soundscapes.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest…. The road of a songwriter is not easy… Engineering you can always have work, but as a songwriter its always a proving ground especially more so nowadays, where music is less about content and more about FEELS…The struggle is not writing a great song the struggle is more about getting people to believe in the content of the song versus how the beat makes you move.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in mainly R&B music but can do it all. I’m known for my song concepts, my quit witted lines and nostalgic flare. One of my biggest moments was being able to work with one of my favorite artist and songwriters “TANK”. He helped craft the 2000s R&b that ran the radio and TV and shaped me into the writer I am today. What sets me apart from others is I genuinely love what I do, its not a hobby its a lifestyle.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t know that i am a really shy individual, I know crazy right.
