Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Keith.
Rachelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Six years ago, I wouldn’t have called this my “dream” — at least not in the way some people describe always knowing exactly what they were meant to do. At the time, I was working a full-time job in insurance that felt like a dead end, and doing makeup on the side as a self-taught artist. In 2019, right after COVID hit, a friend convinced me to try lash extensions as a hobby — something casual we could do together. I said yes with no real expectations.
Like most people starting something new, I was terrible at it. But I made myself a promise: give it six months. If I still didn’t feel like it was for me, I could walk away knowing I at least gave it a real shot. But to my surprise, something clicked. Around that six-month mark, things started to take off. I began to truly understand the craft, clients were returning every two weeks, and I was intentionally building my Instagram to reflect a legitimate business.
Before I knew it, I had a logo, a website in the works, and a new level of confidence. I took myself — and the vision I was creating — seriously. By 2021, I was able to quit my day job and step fully into my career as a lash artist and entrepreneur.
Since then, the journey has been surreal. Every day, week, and year I reflect on how far I’ve come, and I’m deeply proud of the career I’ve built from the ground up. It may not have started as a dream, but it’s become something more meaningful than I ever could’ve imagined.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most people who build a business from the ground up, I faced my fair share of struggles in the beginning. I had spent my entire life as an employee, so stepping into entrepreneurship was completely new territory — and honestly, I had no idea what I was doing at first (pro tip: new business owners, do a little research ahead of time — trust me 😂).
Some challenges were small, like figuring out my niche or choosing brand colors that felt true to me on Instagram. Others were much bigger — like how to attract the right clients, or how to elevate my skills in such a saturated industry. I’m grateful that I had resources around me, whether that meant leaning on friends, connecting with fellow business owners, investing in certification courses, or buying more eBooks than I can count to keep learning and growing.
What I’ve learned is that the best lessons often come from experience — both the wins and the setbacks. If you stay open, stay curious, and always remain a student of your craft, you never really fail. You just learn, adapt, and pivot.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a seasoned professional lash artist with a specialty in volume sets, but I offer a wide range of services — from hybrid full sets to mega volume individual lash extensions. While I love all styles, I’ve become especially known for my color lash sets. Sometimes the inspiration hits me out of nowhere, and other times, clients bring in reference photos for me to recreate — but either way, I love the creative process.
Having such a diverse and open-minded clientele allows me to constantly challenge myself and push the limits of what I can create. It keeps my artistry evolving. One of the moments I’m most proud of recently was being featured in the debut edition of a lash magazine called ‘Lash Press’ launched by an incredibly talented artist based in Australia. It’s like the Vogue of the lash world — bold, creative, and made for artists who are pushing boundaries.
The best part? I don’t feel like I have to prove myself or compete to stand out. I’ve curated the most incredible clientele who truly see and value what I bring to the table, and that alone means everything to me.
How do you define success?
For me, success is about alignment. It’s when your passion, your purpose, and your everyday life start to connect in a way that feels fulfilling. It’s not just about being booked out or growing on social media — it’s about knowing I built something from the ground up that reflects who I am. Success is being proud of the work I do, the clients I serve, and the person I’ve become in the process. If I can continue to grow, create, and inspire while staying true to myself — that’s success.
