Conversations with Monica Blanco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Blanco.

Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has always been intertwined with storytelling, music, and the power of images. I started in Colombia, deeply connected to the world of radio, journalism, and music, where I discovered how sound and words could move people. Over time, photography and videography became my true language — a way to capture not only faces, but emotions, atmospheres, and stories that deserved to be told.

When I moved to the United States, I brought with me not only my camera, but also the vision of building something meaningful. That is how MonaWhitee Photography was born, a company rooted in creativity, professionalism, and the belief that every person, brand, or event has a unique story worth telling with dignity and beauty.

Today, I balance different projects: from real estate media and corporate work to music photography and social storytelling. Each experience has shaped me into who I am — someone who not only creates images, but also seeks to leave a legacy of respect, empowerment, and artistry in every frame.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road — but those challenges have given depth to my journey. At 24, I moved from Colombia to Mexico, where I spent nearly a decade growing both personally and professionally. Mexico became the place where I matured as an artist, working with magazines, television, concerts, festivals, portraits, and even creating cover photography. It was a formative stage that gave me confidence and a strong foundation in the creative industry.

Almost four years ago, I moved to the United States, and once again I had to start over. Building a career in a new country meant navigating uncertainty, adapting to new cultural and professional dynamics, and facing the challenge of establishing trust where my name and work were not yet known.

The road has been demanding, but every struggle has pushed me to refine my vision, strengthen my skills, and stay true to my purpose. What I’ve learned is that difficulties often become the seed of creativity. They shape you into someone who not only creates images, but also seeks to tell stories of resilience, authenticity, and hope.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work lives at the intersection of photography, video, and storytelling. Through my company, MonaWhitee Photography, I specialize in creating high-quality visual content for businesses, real estate, social and corporate events, as well as editorial and artistic portraits. I’m known for capturing the essence of people and brands in a way that feels authentic, powerful, and timeless.

What I’m most proud of is that my work doesn’t just document moments — it transforms them. A simple look, a gesture, or an atmosphere becomes a visual story that empowers my clients and makes them see themselves in a new light. Whether it’s a musician on stage, a family celebrating a milestone, or a business owner presenting their brand, I aim to make every person feel confident, seen, and respected.

What sets me apart is the intentionality behind every frame. I never compromise the value of my work: I combine technical expertise with a deep respect for human stories. My goal is not only to deliver images, but to create an experience where people feel cared for, valued, and celebrated. That commitment — to excellence, empathy, and artistry — is what I believe makes my work stand out.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my most cherished childhood memories takes me back to Bogotá, when I was about nine years old. During that time, while my parents worked abroad, my sisters and I were cared for by a family we loved dearly. In the evenings, I would often sit with “Uncle Eduardo,” the head of the house, as he played vinyl records. He would tell me who the artists were and even translate the lyrics in his own way.

That is when I first discovered The Beatles — or as I called them then, “Los Bitle.” I still remember the first notes of “Let it Be,” a lesson far too big for a nine-year-old, yet one that has followed me through life. I was captivated by Lennon’s gaze, Paul’s smile, Starr’s charisma, and George’s quiet mysticism — though those impressions came with time.

Those nights weren’t just about music; they were about discovering that songs could carry emotions, lessons, and even a sense of hope. Alongside The Beatles, I also heard Serrat singing “Caminante no hay camino…” — words that later reminded me that life itself is a journey we build step by step.

Looking back, I realize that those evenings were not just about melodies, but about learning to listen deeply, to feel, and to dream. Music became my first teacher in storytelling, and that memory is a foundation of everything I create today.
