Good morning Randall, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m on a path! I was laid off in 2024 had about month off and started working as an Art Director for
a toy company and due to tariffs, I was laid off again at the beginning of this year.
I’m focused on getting my own thing going and growing Randall Paints as a business.
I’m focusing on my own characters, world building and storytelling. I see the next phase of Randall Paints being
art based immersive experiences and bringing people into Crescent Hollow the fictional town my artwork revolves
around and the larger “Randallverse” for the record I don’t like Randallverse I just don’t know what else to call it!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Randall Smith, a pop artist from Orlando who creates colorful, story-filled worlds under the name Randall Paints.
I’ve always been fascinated by theme parks, cartoons, and that magic that makes you feel like a kid again and that’s
what I try to capture in my work.
My main character is a robot and his quirky friends, they make up the Four Horsemen (reimagined as lovable misfits).
Right now, I’m working on The Randall Paints Creative Studio, an immersive art experience that lets people actually
step into my universe. It’s been a tall task and is in the very early stages, but it’s a goal I’m committed to.
For me, it’s all about giving people permission to dream, create, and smile.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
It’s probably the first time I saw Star Wars. The Star Wars movie franchise really impacted me and captured my
imagination. It has made me look at what I make and my characters and really try to develop it into my own
universe. It showed me at a very young age the power of imagination and it hasn’t let go.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Itt would be really hard to just say one thing. I’m my own worst critic, I have an irrational thought that I should be
able to do anything I put my mind to. So I’m not really good at giving myself grace. One kind thing? HMMM….
I would tell a younger version of myself that we are worthy. And by that I mean, stripping away all the self doubt,
all the struggles, all the pain, that following our destiny means something, even if at the end of it all, we are the
only ones who see it, it still matters.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I’m authentically me. I think you can see public me I can be outgoing or I can be introverted.
I struggle with anxiety, so being public facing can be draining.
But I show up as the same guy at art shows, in YouTube videos, at a work setting, or at home.
There’s only one Randall, moods may vary.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I think somewhere in the middle and I oscillate to each end. I was born to follow my creative journey.
I feel like if I keep on that journey and stay true to me, no matter if that’s my own business, or a theme park
creative director, art director at a toy company, or sign artist for Publix.
I’m staying true to my creative self, it’s just a matter of how far down the rabbit hole we go.
