Story & Lesson Highlights with Sufia Huq

Sufia Huq shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Sufia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been soaking up as much time outdoors as possible. Whether it’s using my Disney annual pass for a fun day at the parks or getting out into nature, being outside has been bringing me so much joy. I recently tried paddleboarding for the first time and instantly fell in love with it—it’s such a peaceful yet energizing way to connect with the water.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Sufia 🦋

I’m a travel wedding, elopement, and portrait photographer based in Central Florida. I specialize in capturing love stories and real moments with a blend of documentary and cinematic styles—offering digital, film, and Super 8 coverage.

My approach is all about creating an experience that feels relaxed and honest. Whether it’s the quiet, in-between moments or the loud, joy-filled ones, I’m drawn to connection and real emotion. I’m especially inspired by couples who embrace the nontraditional—who value intentionality, creativity, and a bit of playfulness in how they show up and celebrate.

I want your photos to feel like you. From colorful, nostalgic tones to thoughtful storytelling, everything I do is centered around making people feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated in front of the camera.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was when I joined the yearbook team in high school. I was known as the “camera girl”. It was the first time I was using a camera regularly and it was the first time that I realized I could document the world around me—my friends, classmates, and the moments that made up our school years. That experience showed me how meaningful photography could be—and it’s what first sparked my love for storytelling through images.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to never stop creating for yourself. There was a time I got so caught up in running my business that I lost sight of why I started in the first place. I forgot the joy and creativity that fueled it all. Hold onto that spark—it’s what makes your work truly yours.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to show up as authentically as possible. I think that’s why the clients who book me tend to be so like-minded—we connect on a real level, and that makes the work even more meaningful. In turn, they trust me with their stories and welcome me into some of the most personal moments of their lives.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m outside, surrounded by nature, just observing. Whether I have a camera with me or not, there’s something grounding about slowing down and really taking in what’s around me. That act of observing, without pressure to create anything, helps me reconnect with myself and remember why I love storytelling in the first place.
