Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Bradford.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from Graduate school with my Doctorate in physical therapy in 2016, then moved to Florida to be closer to family. I practiced from 3 years and then opened up my practice in 2019 to serve the West Orange community with mobile therapy services. This lead to working with local Assisted living communities to bring therapy to their residents. I began expanding the team adding occupational and speech therapy. In 2021 I open a brick and mortar to help meet the need for therapy services and offer services that were desperately needed and highly beneficial to the residents in the West Orange community such as aquatic therapy, dry needling, vestibular and balance and swallowing therapy. We have since added Markerless motion capture for our orthopedic program and pelvic health therapy to the practice to help expecting moms, new moms and others experiencing pelvic floor issues. I met the love of my life, Rebecca Bradford, a Winter Garden native in 2019 and we have been married since 2022. She owns and operates Winter Garden Senior Homecare, a local home health agency that cares for West Oranges senior adults in their homes. We are both proud Rotarian’s’ and give back to our community every chance we get that opportunity. Today we service the same assisted living communities and have partnered with others to bring our unmatched care to their residents. The Outpatient clinic, located in the Winter Garden Shopping Center by Aldi and Mosaic church is continuing to grow and serve our community each day. The team has now grown to 14 team members to best service west orange county and we plan to continue for many decades to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel owning and operating a business always presents challenges and especially a healthcare business. Much like therapy when a problem Preston’s we are able to expertly diagnose the root cause and work together to find the best and most long term solution that is beneficial to all involved. We had to navigate 2020 with the pandemic just as we had launched our practice, which thankfully we were able to do. This meant people received the care and human connection that they desperately needed and our team was able to continue to serve our community and support their own families. We deal with changing insurance rules, regulations and annual updates, which if you have ever worked in healthcare you would understand the unique hurdles these companies place on practices. We have successfully overcome them by offering out of network services, affordable self pay options, accepting HSA account and of course continuing our personalized one to one care for your entire visit so our clients get better faster and stay better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our clinic offers physical and speech therapy. We are equipped to serve multiple demographics in the West Orange community from youth athletes, active adults to our senior adults 65+ years old. Our youngest client is 13 years old and our oldest client was over 100! Our specialties include aquatic therapy, vestibular and balance therapy, memory and swallowing therapy, dry needling, pelvic health, advanced orthopedic markerless motion capture diagnosis, gait analysis, and spending the entire session one on one with each client. Being accessible is one of our biggest things that sets us apart. we have a direct number to Stefenie, our patient care coordinator, you can access the therapists even on days you are not in the clinic and we reserve spots on the schedule to get you in for your evaluation in 24 to 48 hours with the ability to schedule the necessary follow up visits. I am most proud of our team and the culture we have crafted and nurture every single day. We have had countless people say ” you can really feel the positive energy in here” ” you always feel like part of the family” “You always have a clear picture of what is going on and the treatment plan to resolve it” and I have had multiple people pull me aside to tell me “you really know how to pick them”. We have a simple framework for keeping such an outstanding culture which is shared core values, a mission and a vision for the company and the team. I want any readers to know that when it comes to musculoskeletal issues we should be their first call. You do not need a referral and you can directly access our services so you can get relief and back to the life you want to live. We help them discover The New U!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe that starting a business no matter what it is or the size always involves risk. Going from a steady paycheck every other week to what KPIs do I need to track in order to make the mortgage payment and keep food on the table is big risk. Opening a brick and mortar location with a long term lease and investing in building out the space to optimally serve the community involved a lot of risk. Everyday I am responsible for the livihood of our team and the clients we see. I often reflect on where I started and where I am now, and I while hind sight is always 20/20 I would do it all again without question. The risks personally, professionally, financially, emotionally and relationship wise have all been worth it to be able to serve my team, my community and my family day in and day out. I will say risk is not for everyone, you need a plan, courage and the drive to keep going when going the going gets tough…and I promise if you are operating a business the going will get tough at some point. At that point you need to be the solution provider, leverage your network, your team and carve out time to make a plan. A little risk or a lot of risk, either way you can’t do it alone forever and building a team and leadership around you will help not only your company thrive, but your team and community will thrive as well.
