Conversations with Dan Williams and Lesley Buttermore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan And Lesley Williams And Buttermore.

Hi Dan and Lesley , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We’re Dan and Lesley. He spent 31 years in screen printing, and I worked off and on in the auto auction industry for 26 years. When Covid hit, we both lost our jobs. People thought we were crazy for starting a food business at that time, but it gave us the push to go after his dream of owning a hot dog cart.
Quality is our number one goal. A lot of our toppings are scratch-made, and everything is made with love. We want people to be able to taste the care that goes into each Mutt.
Our customers like to call Dan a “culinary chemist” because he’s always coming up with new creations to pile on top of the Muttz. At the end of the day, our goal is simple—make people happy. If someone walks away with a full belly, a smile, and maybe even a laugh, then we know we’ve done our job.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy. Hurricane seasons in Florida are rough, each city has their own rules, finding locations is very difficult, code enforcement, and some of the heath inspections rules make no since. Finding a vegetarian option.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Dan’s is a perfectionist and won’t give a mutt to someone if one line of mustard is out of place and perfecting our Carrot Muttz. And I work on the business, art, and marketing for the business.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
We both love bowling and football.
Dan loves creating new toppings for our Muttz. It’s one of his true passions.
I love creating ( Halloween costumes, shirts, stickers, and all kinds of Art.
