Live ‘n’ Kickin’ with Bruce Andersen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Andersen.

Hi Bruce, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Approximately six years ago, I wanted to make a career change in my life. I really enjoyed being an architect, but it was time for something different. I also mentioned I am a professional architect, but also a professional musician and oil painter. So what to do, what to do. I saw an article in the Orlando Sentinel in October. I’m 2019. I talked about these musicians that streamed a weekly show to Facebook called kitchen killers. That gave me the idea to start Live ‘n’ Kickin’. Over the next few months I researched, acquired equipment, assembled the studio, did rehearsals, and was ready for the first broadcast, which would be on YouTube.. January 16, 2020 was the first show. At that time, it was very limited being shown only on YouTube. Of course, six weeks later the pandemic shut down occurred.. But we continued in spite of that getting musicians to travel to the studio from around Florida.

Sometime in the next year, I was contacted by a Radio syndicator. That became our conversion into a national radio show.. Starting with just one station and now 50 stations across the entire US. An audience of over 1,000,000 listeners every week.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every show is a challenge for various reasons. New technical problems occur all the time, technicians have had heart attacks, nearby gas explosions, power outages, and my favorite, since the studio is located on the St. John’s river, the entire area was flooded during hurricane Ian. The only way to get in and out of the studio was by canoe for one month..

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My full attention now is producing Live ‘n’ Kickin’. Every week LNK is recorded live then broadcast 60 times on 50 radio stations, both terrestrial and internet, all over the US. These include rock, country, jazz, folk, hip hop, variety, college, senior, native American, and many more.

The show includes three musical guest stars plus the host Bruce Andersen and the Cosmic Cowboy Revival Band. The guests are great musicians from all over America and beyond. They play a variety of styles on a variety of instruments. That the show is live is emphasized with cross mic humor and with great freedom for the artists.

The show uses music as the great common denominator for joy. All kinds of people perform together on the show, young, old, black, white, male, female, country, city, conservative, liberal, and even banjo players. Yes, even them. There are Grammy nominees, The Voice and America’s Got Talent finalists, regional champions, signed artists, touring veterans and the kid just starting his career. They all have a blast doing it that will bring a smile to your ears.
