Exploring Life & Business with John Arnold of John K Arnold International Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Arnold.

Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am 73. This may conjure up slowing down but not for me. Why? I have always believed that I get good at what I practice. If I practice dying, I will get good at it. If I practice living, I will get better and better at living, year by year, month by month, week by week, day by day, minute by minute, second by second. Practicing learning and practicing living go well together. I am always learning. I have been fascinated by consciousness most of my life across may cultures.

I am a dual citizen USA and Czech. My wife is a dual citizen USA and Italian. As I write this I am learning Italian. I have practiced meditation including with Buddhist monks and other consciousness practices for 45 years.

For over 25 years I have provided international travel and permanent, expat medical insurance to 1000s of clients. Recently I became an associated with a very large association of wedding planners. I support International Destination Wedding Planners. For a variety of reasons International Destination Weddings are booming.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I want to address how I see Obstacles, Challenges, Struggles. These are about the person/people. Simple example dunking a basketball. For Michael Jordan not an obstacle, challenge or struggle. For me on earth it way beyond obstacle. challenge or struggle. Is there are situation where I could do it. Yes, get on a ladder and dunk it. I didn’t say it had to be done by jumping. The key is to be bruttaly honest with myself. I grew up being tested and told how smart I am. In some things that was true. In my schools in 1950s Jacksonville, Florida I excelled in school. Unfortunately the schools were not that good and accreditation was taken away and yet I have friends that grew up to be phenomenal successes. One of my friends was Gary Rossington founding member of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. I grew up with other friends that are phenomenal. I did well in school and got into Rice University which at the time was considered the most difficult only to MIT and Stanford. Rice was a shock.

All the people that I have known that have that excelled clearly knew what they wanted, worked and worked and worked with dedicati0n and clarity. Ronnie didn’t focus on money, he focused on the music.
Struggle is like “Try” I will quote a mentor. Yoda “Do Or Do Not.” “There Is No Try”
