Rising Stars: Meet Forrest Young of Sanford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Forrest Young.

Hi Forrest, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Beezer Eats! launched in June 2025. Driven by a family team, Chef Forrest Young and his wife Beth, this food trailer is the culmination of two dreams: entrepreneurship and sharing Chef Forrest’s food with the community.
The Mission:
Providing joy through food; Encouraging community with food; Bridging cultures in food.
• Cooking has been at Chef Forrest’s center since childhood, and seeing others enjoy his food is worth more than the price he could put on any plate.
• In a day and age when sitting down for a nightly family meal is no longer common, food still provides an opportunity to gather. Beezer Eats! strives to bring people together with food.
• While Beezer Eats! is heavily rooted in American barbecue, none of the menu is straight-forward barbecue. The items are influenced by world regions that have shaped Chef Forrest’s and Beth’s palates. From Asian dumplings filled with Mexican birria, to chicken tenders fried in gluten free waffle batter, to scratch-made mac & cheese, and weekly rotating cakes-in-a-jar, Beezer Eats! brings innovative interpretations of familiar flavors.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every start-up experiences obstacles. Ours has been no different. However, resilience and felxibility have allowed us to overcome difficulties. We experienced brand new equipement having to be replaced under warranty before we even opened and struggles learing a point of sale system we had never used before. Not to even mention opening in June and having to endure the dog days of summer during our first few months of operation.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Beezer Eats specializes in eclectic food rooted in BBQ. I grew up in Texas and spent many years learning how to operate an offset smoker. Although BBQ is in my blood, I have been impacted and influenced by foods and flavors from all over the world. Our recent award for Best Appetizer at the Sanford Food Truck Battle was at the Sanford Food Truck Battle was won by our Crispy Spareribs.” Also: “tossed in a spicy Harissa dry rub.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The food scene in central Florida is not only great, but continuing to grow. It is awesome to be a part of it.

I think our first fiscal quarter of operation being June through August has made us a little bit jaded about Florida summers. We could have done without the heat and rain.
