We recently had the chance to connect with Rocquel and have shared our conversation below.
Rocquel, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
Currently I’m learning from the idea of time the most right now. I’m finding knowledge in time revealing life, perspective, truths and lessons. Therefore, the essence of time has been my biggest teacher because it’s the one thing in life that we can’t control.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Rocquel but the world calls me “Rockie”, and on social media I’m known as “BucketlistMommi”. I’m an explorer of everything adventurous so in my downtime outside of my calling I’m known to travel, hence where the name Bucketlistmommi was inspired by. To harness my journey in walking in my purpose my brand extends its self as a YouTuber (@Bucketlistmommi), focused on providing insight on ways women can overcome common life challenges women endure, discover self love, and documenting adventours travels. As a Youtuber, I’m currently working on a woman centered podcast called “Cozy Convos” that will highlight different women of all walks of life from rappers, entreprenuers, influencers, etc sharing their stories of rising through personal challenges and them blooming into their story today. My brand focuses primarily on fulfilling your goals and walking in your purpose.
By day I’m a curriculum developer, entrepreneur and Founder of Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc. Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc is a nonprofit focused on providing reading tutoring services to students grades prek-5th grade in the Central Florida area that are facing challenges academically and financially in seeking educational services. Currently Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc is striving to serve up to 50 students this upcoming season. As a nonprofit, we provide students from all walks of life with the opportunity to receive intentional academic support to foster their reading growth and academic journey.
During our services we assist students in closing their educational gaps in reading in addition, to providing parents/guardians with resources and tools to assist their students outside of tutoring services.
To fulfill our mission, we assist students in phonics, reading foundational skills, reading comprehension, and reading fluency using top rated educational programs, elite technology, Social Emotional Learning support and providing students with educational experiences to promote a healthy growth mindset.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The passing of my father this year in February 2025 really shaped my perspective and outlook on the world. My father was a man who lived in his truths and also was fiercely goal oriented. Everything he wanted to do or attain in life he did, COMPLETED and walked in his purpose which was my biggest reflection to take away from his life and influences. My dad traveled the world, he worked as a senior executive for the most prestigious company in air crafting and he remained true to who he was. His passing inspired me to just go for my wildest dreams and have no remorse about doing so. No matter if the dream seemed crazy, looked crazy, sounded crazy my biggest take away was making life my true master piece. So today, I honor him in traveling the world and capturing content, walking in my purpose to inspire and help others whether physically or virtually through my content. Today I’ve learned that my voice and story inspires many and that’s a honorary piece I hold to my heart.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Lol, this is so funny because there’s a lot of things I would tell to my younger self but the one thing I would say is “GIRL SLOW DOWN”! Naturally by default I’m a planner. I call myself a OCD planner lol. I will plan my meals, my trips, my goals, my life, I even planned me having kids, heck I’ll maybe plan you if you asked me for help lol.
No but seriously, as I’ve gotten older and experienced a lot of life challenges I’ve learned the beauty in patience, slow and steady. Many times when I was younger I found myself overly planning out my goals and life out of fear and anxiety. I wanted everything to go right – not perfect but right or at least close to the vision. However, pain taught me that there’s beauty and joy in the waiting. Truly waiting your time for whatever your life and heart desires comes with the greatest reward because God knows what you need, when you need it and how you need it. So now after therapy, self discovering and having a clear perspective on life, I find so much peace now that I’m older in taking things slow. I enjoy slow mornings looking at nature, listening to birds and cars ride by, and journaling.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I just love people! I’m truly a positive walking vessel with a big heart. Those close to me will say positivity is important to me. It’s the way I express love, give love, and show up for others. I believe we live in such a two dimensional world that at times people feel life is too positive or so negative when in reality life perceptions is birth from how WE choose to think as individuals. People close to me will say being positive is important to me, being a mom, a true friend and being kind is what means the most. Often times I can be found with my two kids I call us the “Musketeers” or I might be alone out the country socializing with a group of other tourist I just met. I believe what you pour out into the world is what you will get in return. Therefore, when you pour positivity out into the world that’s what I will receive in return.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Today, I’m working towards expanding Learn Reading EZ Hub Inc reach in the Central Florida community to one day host a major reading kick back event where students and families can come out and receive free books from authors, sign up for a library card, and a safe event for children and families to socialize and have fun.
In addition, I’m working towards building a cohesive and impactful podcast “Cozy Convos” to truly touch the lives of women of all walks of life married, divorced, single moms, moms etc to bloom into the women they’re proud to be.
