Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Henlon.
Hi Rob, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After serving eight years in the U.S. Army, I carried with me the discipline, leadership, and perseverance that would later become the foundation for everything I’ve built. When I transitioned from military life to civilian life, I was driven by a desire to create, lead, and build something meaningful in my community. Interestingly, I found that setting up the logistics for fashion shows wasn’t all that different from organizing military training exercises — both required strategic planning, coordination, communication, and teamwork to execute successfully.
That drive led me to co-found Orlando International Fashion Week in April 2014, alongside my sister Jessica and our friend Starr Dalton. At the time, Jessica and I were already partners in a company called Ready, Inc., which focused on graphics, web design, and social media marketing. We never planned to enter the fashion world — it happened organically. A design student approached us for help promoting a local fashion show in Downtown Orlando, and through that project, we saw firsthand how much untapped creative talent existed in Central Florida.
As we got more involved, we realized there was a need for a platform where local designers, models, and artists could showcase their work and connect with industry professionals. Starr, who had experience and connections in the fashion community, joined forces with us, and together we helped bring that first event to life. The success of that show opened our eyes to what was possible.
Building on that momentum, we launched Florida Fashion Weekend, a two-day event that brought together fashion lovers, creatives, and businesses. The growing demand for show production, marketing, and management services inspired us to establish Fierce Entertainment Management, which would go on to produce large-scale events and provide creative support for clients across different industries.
From there, Orlando International Fashion Week became the centerpiece of our efforts — a biannual event that celebrates creativity, entrepreneurship, and diversity. In 2015, we trademarked the event name to solidify our brand identity, and in 2021, we transitioned Orlando Fashion Week into a nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)), cementing our commitment to uplifting the creative community and providing opportunities for emerging talent.
What started as a simple opportunity to help promote a local show has grown into a movement that continues to highlight Central Florida’s vibrant creative energy. My journey from military service to business and event production has been about transformation, teamwork, and a commitment to turning vision into reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge helped shape who we are today. One of the biggest struggles early on was redefining what fashion could look like. When we started, most people associated “fashion” strictly with traditional high-fashion standards; tall, thin models and a very narrow view of beauty. But we saw fashion differently. We believed it should reflect real people and celebrate all forms of beauty.
From the beginning, we made a conscious decision to include plus-size models, petite models, children, and older models in our shows. At that time, that approach wasn’t common, in fact, some other show producers scoffed at us for doing it. They thought it broke the rules or didn’t fit the “runway image.” But we stood by our vision, because we wanted to represent the community we serve and give opportunities to those who were often overlooked.
Over time, that inclusive approach became something the industry began to embrace. What was once considered unconventional is now becoming standard practice. Looking back, I’m proud that we helped lead that change and opened the door for others to see that fashion isn’t just about perfection. It’s about confidence, creativity, and authenticity.
As you know, we’re big fans of Fierce Entertainment Management, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Fierce Entertainment Management, we specialize in event production, creative brand development, casting, and marketing. At our core, we’re storytellers. We bring ideas to life through experiences that connect people, brands, and culture. Our signature production, Orlando International Fashion Week, is where all of that comes together. It’s not just a fashion show; it’s a platform for creativity, diversity, and community impact.
What sets us apart is our inclusive approach and our commitment to authenticity. We don’t just produce shows; we create opportunities. Whether it’s emerging designers showcasing their first collection, local models walking the runway for the first time, or small businesses gaining exposure through partnerships, our focus is always on empowerment and representation.
We’re proud to be known for redefining what fashion events look like in Central Florida. Our productions feature models of all sizes, ages, and backgrounds, and we integrate art, music, and entertainment to create a full cultural experience. Beyond fashion, our team works with a range of clients, from corporate brands to nonprofit organizations, helping them develop and execute events, marketing strategies, and social media campaigns that align with their goals and values.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the fact that we’ve stayed true to our mission from day one: to use creativity as a force for connection and change. We’ve built a reputation for professionalism, innovation, and heart, and that combination has allowed us to grow while still staying deeply rooted in the community. We’re also proud that several of the models who began their careers with us have gone on to achieve remarkable success, appearing in major films such as Baywatch and Bad Boys III, and walking in world-renowned events including New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, and Beverly Hills Fashion Week.
What I want readers to know is that Fierce Entertainment is more than a company. It’s a movement. We stand for creativity, diversity, and collaboration. Whether you’re a designer, artist, model, entrepreneur, or brand, our mission is to give you a platform to shine and the support to make your vision a reality.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I don’t have just one favorite childhood memory because, honestly, I really enjoyed my entire childhood. Growing up as a military brat gave me the chance to experience so many different cultures and places at a young age. While living in Hawaii, I learned how to boogie board and play the ukulele. When we moved to New Orleans, I took trumpet lessons overlooking Canal Street, surrounded by the sound and spirit of the city’s incredible music scene. And during a visit to Germany, I got to experience Oktoberfest; even though I was too young to drink, it was unforgettable to be part of that energy and celebration. Each of those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for diversity, adventure, and connection, which still shape who I am today.
