Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After a lot of research, we decided to purchase a Cruise Planners Franchise. This was a new venture for us; we owned a totally different business for 30 years. We were not ready for retirement and because we love to travel, what better way to spend our time as travel advisors.
We bought a Cruise Planner Franchise a few years ago, and loving every minute of it!! We are very lucky to be a part of one of the BIGGEST travel companies.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We did not know anything about the travel business. We went through training with the Franchisor. We could not believe how intricate the travel business can be. There is a lot to learn, and it was quite overwhelming in the beginning. There is a lot of education involved because not only do you have to learn the travel booking system (and each travel vendor has their own) you have to know the products you are selling. We made sure to take the individual Cruise line classes to educate ourselves and become certified with each Cruise Line. We always participate in continuing education because travel changes all the time and we want to bring our expertise to our clients. As with any business, there is always competition. It is up to us to make our clients understand we work hard to get them the best price and amenities. We strive to make our clients happy.
