Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Julio C Caba.
Hi Dr Julio C, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are a mental health and self-development organization owned and operated by a husband and wife team. Our organization was founded based on the experiences of Dr. Julio C. Caba.
Dr. Caba was born and raised in one of the most crime- and drug-infested areas of New York City. Surrounded by poverty and violence, he dropped out of high school by the age of 15. By 16, he was having a child with an adult woman, a situation that, at that time, was not recognized as pedophilia, which compounded Dr. Caba’s struggles. By 17, his partner was pregnant again, this time with twins. With little support and no positive role models around him, he was unaware that the relationship he was in was unhealthy and causing traumas that would affect him for the rest of his life. By age 21, his partner abandoned her children, leaving them with Dr. Caba. This led him to become homeless with the three children, facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
During this challenging time, he met Carolina Alvarez, who became a great friend. Carolina was pursuing her master’s degree in mental health. One night, Dr. Caba attempted to take his own life, and the only thing that saved him was his daughter waking up during the experience. In that moment, he remembered the positive words Carolina had shared with him: that he would make it through this, that he was smart, that he had value, and more. That night changed his life.
Carolina helped him get counseling and coaching. Dr. Caba’s will to fight grew stronger as he began to see the world through healthy eyes and with a healing heart. Carolina became his wife of over 22 years. Together, they vowed to commit to the community and establish an organization that ensures no one is left behind, providing the professional support needed for individuals to discover their fighting spirit for success.
Our organization has been serving the community for 11 years with multiple counselors, providing coaching, counseling, and learning workshops. Dr. Julio C. Caba has become a renowned speaker, hired by organizations such as DCF, FRMA, CareerSource, and more. He has also written four books and developed two courses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! Many challenges have arisen and continue to arise. Even though the organization has been successful in many ways, we work from morning to night, often without vacations, and weekends usually involve working on our laptops. Since Dr. Caba comes from such a background, we have relied on ourselves for funding without any investors or banks. The hardest part has been managing our time. To be a successful business, you must commit fully. However, the beauty of opening the doors to our own business and helping others provides us with the motivation we need to keep going. That is what being an entrepreneur is all about: facing everyday issues and solving the problems that arise.

Our organization focuses on self-improvement in many areas, and we have created programs that empower both individuals and businesses. Using the skills we have acquired in managing our private practice, we assist other private practices across the country in managing their business affairs.
