Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Gabrielli.
Kayla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from New York, but my journey really started when I decided to take a leap and move to Florida to chase my dreams in the beauty industry. About eight years ago, I attended Paul Mitchell Orlando, and that experience laid the foundation for everything that followed. I’ve worked in different salon environments over the years, learning, growing, and finding my voice as a stylist.
Orlando became more than just the place I work it’s where I started my family and began truly planting roots. Over time, my passion for hair evolved into something bigger: building my brand, Shearious Business, creating education for stylists, and growing a community that inspires and supports one another. Every step, from those early days in hair school to now, has shaped me into the stylist, educator, and mom I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is meant to be completely smooth. I truly believe it’s the challenges that build character and push you toward your purpose. I’ve experienced toxic work environments, battled postpartum, and even faced the pain of being fired from a salon. Those moments were discouraging and made me question my path in this industry. But my passion for what I do has always been stronger than the obstacles. Every setback became fuel to build something bigger, and that resilience is a huge part of why I’m here today and why I try so hard to empower newer stylists or any professional in their own industry
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hairstylist and educator who’s passionate about creating effortless beauty and building real connections. I’ve spent the last eight years growing my career and planting roots in Florida, specializing in lived-in color and blonding techniques that enhance natural beauty while staying low-maintenance and modern. Outside of the chair, I teach social media branding and salon education through my platform, Shearious Business, helping stylists build confidence and sustainable careers.
What truly sets me apart is my ability to connect, adapt, and lead with intention. Yes, the skill set is there, and yes, the hair is there — but I’m also the stylist who will always keep it real. I’m honest with my clients about the good, the bad, and the ugly because creating trust is just as important as creating beautiful hair. I bring that same honesty to my audience, who are inspired by my journey. I don’t sugarcoat how hard this industry can be, because I believe in showing the real side of the beauty world — not just the highlight reel. That transparency has allowed me to build an authentic brand and a community that feels seen and supported.
A huge part of my brand is being “your mom’s favorite stylist” — and for me, that’s so much deeper than a tagline. It represents warmth, comfort, trust, and connection. Motherhood is when I truly became the woman I am today. It shaped how I show up in my business, how I connect with people, and how I lead. Being a mom isn’t just part of my life — it’s the heart of my brand. It’s why my clients feel at home in my chair and why my platform resonates with so many stylists.
What I’m most proud of is turning my story — from setbacks to growth — into something that inspires and empowers others. I’ve built a career rooted in authenticity and motherhood, showing that you can chase big dreams, build something lasting, and be the woman your younger self needed — all while being the mom your child looks up to.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
One of the biggest qualities that’s contributed to my success is my ability to connect, adapt, and lead with intention. I’ve learned how to build genuine relationships with clients, peers, and my community, which has helped create trust and loyalty around my work. At the same time, I’m constantly evolving—whether it’s adapting to industry shifts, finding new creative ways to grow, or stepping into leadership roles. I love to lead by example and pour passion into everything I do, while staying grounded and open to learning. That balance of connection, growth, and purpose has been a driving force behind everything I’ve built.
