Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael D Flash.
Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born in Puerto Rico, I’ve called Orlando home for over twenty years. My path into music wasn’t direct. I only discovered my passion for DJing in college. From 2008 to 2012, I learned by performing around Orlando, making mistakes, and following my curiosity. Those early years showed me the power of music to move people and helped me discover new sides of myself.
A turning point came in 2013 when I saw DJ Irie perform at the American Airlines Arena. The energy, control, and joy he created in that space lit something in me. I realized right then that DJing was my calling. Shortly after, I trained professionally at Scratch DJ Academy in Miami, commuting every weekend to build a solid foundation.
However, the path was far from easy. I’ve faced homelessness, financial struggles, and countless setbacks, but music kept me grounded. It gave me a reason to keep pushing and a platform to rebuild. After graduating in 2016, I returned to Orlando’s nightlife, and by 2019, I had begun landing residencies at various downtown clubs and bars.
Since then, I’ve performed at venues including the House of Blues, Hard Rock Café, and the Kia Center, and collaborated with major brands like JetBlue, Guess, Bass Pro Shops, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Highlights include DJing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ VIP Lounge in San Antonio, NBA Orlando Magic after-parties, and PGA Tour events. I’ve also performed at fashion shows, charity galas, and cultural festivals—any event that brings people together through music.
In 2021, I launched Flash Dance Radio, a global mix and podcast platform that celebrates the energy and culture of dance music. It is now available to stream on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Deezer. I continue building Flash Dance Entertainment, curating events that embody connection, rhythm, and joy.
My sound is open-format, blending Latin, dance, hip-hop, and pop, but my mission is clear: to unite people worldwide by crafting immersive experiences where sound and light break boundaries. Through music, I connect diverse audiences and create memorable, inclusive moments. I’m refining my production skills and studying with the Pete Tong DJ Academy to reach the “Future Talent” level and position myself for an international career.
Looking ahead, I’m channeling these experiences into my goal to represent Orlando and Puerto Rico on the world stage: touring internationally, producing original music, and inspiring others to find purpose through creativity. I’ve learned that success isn’t about speed but consistency, heart, and staying true to your sound. For me, this journey is just getting started. ⚡️
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has definitely not been easy. I’ve had moments where I lost everything: my home, my stability, even my confidence. There were times I questioned if I was chasing something impossible. But through every setback, music kept finding me. No matter how far I drifted, I’d always come back to it, and that reminded me that this path was meant for me.
When I started, I didn’t know anyone in the industry. I didn’t have guidance or expensive gear — just a drive to learn and a deep love for music. I taught myself through trial and error, watching other DJs, and studying transitions, sound, and energy. Every obstacle became a classroom.
The most challenging part was rebuilding after life knocked me down. Being homeless for a time taught me resilience. It gave me perspective and made me realize how much I truly wanted this life. I became unstoppable once I decided that DJing and music were my purpose. I worked two jobs, saved up for equipment, took DJ courses, and drove back and forth from Orlando to Miami every weekend to improve my craft.
Even now, the challenges don’t disappear. Balancing a day job, running my company Flash Dance Entertainment, and chasing bigger goals as an artist requires discipline and patience. But I’ve learned that every struggle adds to my story. It builds character, teaches humility, and helps me connect with others fighting for their dreams.
What keeps me going is knowing that someone out there might see my journey and feel inspired to start their own to take that leap even when it’s hard. Every challenge has been worth it if I can do that through my music. ⚡️
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a DJ, producer in progress, and founder of Flash Dance Entertainment, a brand built around the idea that music can unite people no matter where they come from. My work centers on creating high-energy, emotionally charged experiences that go beyond the music. Every event I play is about connection, movement, and energy.
I specialize in open-format dance music, mixing everything from house, Latin, and hip-hop to pop and global beats. I’m known for my ability to read a crowd and turn any space a nightclub, a fashion show, or a charity gala — into a shared experience. I’ve performed at some of Orlando’s most recognized venues, including the House of Blues, Hard Rock Café, and the Kia Center, and have partnered with brands like JetBlue, Guess, and Bass Pro Shops. I’ve also been honored to DJ for the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ VIP Lounge, NBA Orlando Magic after-parties, and the PGA Tour.
One of my proudest achievements is Flash Dance Radio, a global mix and podcast platform streamed worldwide — from the U.S. and Brazil to the U.K. and Australia — on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Deezer. What started as a small creative outlet has become a global community of listeners connecting through rhythm, energy, and emotion.
What truly sets me apart is my relentless drive. I’ve faced major obstacles from starting with nothing, to losing everything, to rebuilding from the ground up, but I’ve never stopped. Every challenge has fueled my vision even more. I don’t just want to play music; I want to inspire people to believe that anything is possible when you stay consistent and true to yourself.
Right now, I’m focused on evolving my sound as a producer and pushing toward my next chapter, becoming a global touring artist representing Orlando and Puerto Rico on the world stage. I’m more determined than ever to make that happen and to continue building a movement that lives up to my brand’s message: see you on the dance floor. ⚡️
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is to connect, whether you’re an event organizer, brand, creative, or fellow artist. I’m always open to collaborations that bring people together through music and culture. I love partnering with venues, fashion shows, festivals, and charitable organizations that share that same passion for creating energy and impact.
You can book me for private events, corporate activations, nightlife performances, or creative collaborations through Flash Dance Entertainment or directly on my website and social media. I’m also always looking to connect with other DJs, producers, and creators who want to build something meaningful, whether that’s a remix, a live event concept, or a feature on Flash Dance Radio.
For those who want to support my journey, tuning into Flash Dance Radio is a fantastic start. Every stream, share, and comment helps the platform grow and spreads the message of connection through music. You can find it on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Deezer, or follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (@MichaelDFlash) to keep up with new mixes, shows, and releases.
Currently, I’m building toward a global movement that brings my creative energy and Puerto Rican roots to dance floors worldwide. Anyone who shares that vision and believes in the power of music to unite people is already part of the Flash Dance Crew. ⚡️
