Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Love.
Hi Heather, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved helping people solve their difficult problems. Since I was a teenager, I believed that I was good at matchmaking. I also was decent at helping couples resolve their conflict. I started my career working in mental health and dependency court. I found that I loved advocacy and helping others to see their purpose and even potential career. After graduation with my MSW from USF Tampa. I started working for the Polk County School Board as a School Social Worker. I loved working at the same elementary school that I attended. My passion showed and I was honored as the first person in student services to be titled Teacher of the Year (2014-2015). I left the school district in 2019 and accepted a role as a Senior social worker at the VA, working with Homeless Veterans. I had great joy working with veterans but the job was very demanding. In 2021, I joined a group practice and dabbled in Counseling individuals and couples. I found that I was as able to resolve problems rather quickly and clients left happy. My husband encouraged me to open my own practice. In July 2022, Better Together Marriage and Family Counseling was created and I couldnt be happier. I love working with couples and changing the outcome of their relationships.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, yes. Billing was tough initially. I had one insurance company that failed to pay after I saw clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Originated in Lakeland at 1649 Williamsburg square, suite 206, lakeland, fl 33803 in July 2022
Specializations: Couples ( all couples)
Anxiety, depression, and first responders.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was bullied in elementary school for being chubby and awkward. The summer before junior high, I refocused my energy on weight loss and building self esteem. Initially it was to prove to a boy that told me that when Pigs Fly he will go out with me; it became a rebirth or transformation of Heather. Within the year, I started modeling, and it changed me for the better. I truly knew what it was like to be the underdog. The unpopular girl, the ugly duckling. I spread my wings and my extroverted personality shined thru. Because, of these experiences, It has made me a better counselor.
