Hi Mesheola, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I went to visit a friend so we could both figure out how to use her Cricut machine. What started as a casual creative session quickly became the spark that ignited my entrepreneurial journey. I immediately fell in love with the process of designing and creating. On the way home that same day, I called my mom and told her I knew exactly what I wanted for my birthday — a Cricut machine. She had been asking what to get me for weeks, and without hesitation, she ended up purchasing the entire machine for me.
From that moment, I practiced nonstop — making shirts for friends, family, and even experimenting with ornaments, which I thought would be my niche. But that vision evolved quickly. What began as a creative hobby soon turned into something bigger. During that time, my neighbor, who owned a food truck, asked if I could make shirts for his team. I tried to refuse payment, but he insisted on paying me — and that moment marked the official start of Designs by Meshe.
Since then, my business has grown steadily through dedication, creativity, and word of mouth. What began as making masks during the pandemic transformed into a full-service custom apparel boutique. Today, Designs by Meshe specializes in personalized t-shirts, spirit wear, and branded merchandise for individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations.
My slogan, “Let’s Make It Personal,” truly reflects the heart of my business. Every item I create is designed with intention and a touch of individuality. I take pride in helping people bring their ideas to life — whether it’s for a family reunion, a local fundraiser, or a small business brand.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see how a single spark of curiosity during a difficult time blossomed into something that continues to bring joy, creativity, and connection to so many others. Designs by Meshe isn’t just about shirts — it’s about celebrating people, stories, and moments in a personal way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped me grow both personally and professionally. When I first started Designs by Meshe, I had no formal training in design, production, or business management — I was just driven by passion and curiosity. There were long nights of trial and error, wasted materials, and frustration when things didn’t come out the way I imagined.
One of the biggest challenges was learning how to balance everything — being a mother, managing my full-time work, and running a growing business from home. There were moments when I questioned if I could keep up, but my determination and support from family kept me going.
Another struggle was understanding the business side — pricing, inventory, taxes, and marketing. I had to learn a lot on my own through research, community programs, and pure persistence. But every setback became a lesson that pushed me to improve.
Today, I’m proud of how far Designs by Meshe has come. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it — every challenge has shaped me into a more resilient, resourceful, and confident entrepreneur.

I specialize in creating custom t-shirts, spirit wear, and branded merchandise for individuals, families, small businesses, and community organizations. From family reunions and birthday celebrations to school events and business branding, every design is made with intention, care, and personality.

I take the time to understand each client’s vision and create something that feels authentic to them. Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes! Some of my favorite resources are Etsy, Creative Fabrica, and of course, Google — and honestly, my customers themselves. Each of these plays a unique role in helping me do my best work.
Etsy and Creative Fabrica are incredible for finding inspiration and design elements that spark creativity. They provide a foundation or starting point that I can then customize to make something truly one-of-a-kind. Google helps me continuously learn — whether it’s improving my production techniques, discovering new materials, or researching design trends.
But most importantly, the people I create for are my greatest resource. Every customer brings their own story, personality, and vision to the table. Collaborating with them pushes me creatively and allows me to produce designs that are personal and meaningful. That’s what I love most about what I do — turning someone’s idea or feeling into something they can proudly wear.
