Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Lull.
Hi Brett, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Maurilio and I have been friends since elementary school. In high-school we used to mowe yards in the summer with a family friend who owned a landscaping company his name was Roger and taught us alot. After we graduated school Maurilio went to work at at&t for 9 years and brett went to work at orange industrial for 10 years. In 2020 Around the time right before covid we started getting together for family game nights at Maurilios and one day during game night we came up with the idea to start our own landscaping company using only electric equipment for mowing lawns. As the weeks went by we would keep talking about it and coming up with a game plan like what electric equipment is out there and had to research on how to even start our own business. In early 2021 is when we finally decided it was time to start the business and came up with the name New Era Landscaping we decided on this name because we were going against the norm of using gas equipment and switching to all electric. It was a ruff start at first we had to continue working our current jobs while we built up a big enough customer base to afford to quit and live off of the income coming in from the business we created. We took out a personal loan to get the equipment and a trailer. After about 6 months we quit our full time jobs and went all in on focusing on growing our business. For the first year we focused on mowing only and bought our first truck and as the work load grew so did we. We started doing landscaping jobs and renting a trailer from u-haul to quickly buying our first dump trailer. After two years of mowing and doing landscaping we decided to just do strictly landscaping as we enjoyed transforming people’s outdoor spaces more. We started to learn how to do paver borders and paver patios and many more trades as we grew. Just last year we decided to add another trade to our belt and bought our third trailer which is a custom curbing trailer. We took some training on how to do custom concrete curbing and now that is our number 1 best seller. We love working with and meeting all of our customers and love transforming people’s outdoor space to something they enjoy!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a bumpy road from equipment breakdowns to not knowing when your next paycheck will come. There is always a new challenge to overcome. We are constantly learning and transforming our business to overcome any challenge that comes our way. Best advice is to not let any challenge big or small make you give up on what you created everything always works out.

We thrive in making our customers happy, if our customers aren’t happy neither our we. We specialize in custom curbs and paver patios, landscaping. We try to give back to the community at the end of every year to people who need it the most as business slows we dont. We take that time to do things for the ones that need it the most. We have done free tree removals for people who have had trees fall on there houses during hurricanes. We have done landscaping jobs for churches to make them more welcoming. And we have done landscaping jobs for the elderly that are on fixed incomes. This year we will be donating turkeys for Thanksgiving to make sure families do not go without a Thanksgiving dinner this year. So helping when we can is what we are most proud of brand wise. We offer pretty much every landscaping services you can think of and our most popular is our custom curbing. There is many different designs and colors that we can do and it last a lifetime.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
We didn’t have any mentors along the way we just did the old trial and error way. We do work with other landscaping companies everytime we get a chance we offer services that most can’t do so we will do the custom curbing for many other landscaping companies.
