We recently had the chance to connect with Vitória Ressineti and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vitória, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Goodness, what a loaded question!
As a new mom, my days are entirely made up of managing chaos. Often that’s how I would describe my line of work, but it takes on a whole new meaning with a little one running around trying to climb on and jump off of every piece of furniture in the house.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Vitória Ressineti and my friends (Dalton Burdette & Nick Iarriccio) and I run Movie Knights Productions out of Orlando, FL!
We have our online division where our boys have a wonderful podcast about all things film and I work on the film division where we specialized in micro-budget short films and featurettes.
I grew up as an actress and only really blossomed into a producer a few years ago in my early/mid 20s. Right now we’re working post on two exciting projects. One, our very first romance (my directorial debut) and a drama that happens to be a very personal piece for our crew.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a little girl who wanted to do more, but felt like she couldn’t.
I do find it rather depressing just how little faith I had in myself because I grew up as an immigrant woman. I didn’t think producing was in the cards for me. It changed my life when I broke out of those shackles and dove into line producing for the first time.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly? Very recently. Life changes when you have a baby. Especially for a woman. I thought I didn’t have a choice, I thought I couldn’t “do it all” and… well, I can’t. Not in the way we might think, but finding that balance is possible. Sometimes we have to be a little delusional to make things work in life.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe we have more “smart” people today than maybe we have ever had before, but it also seems they’re all too busy trying to change each others’ minds.
We’ve all been so obsessed with tolerance and somehow are consistently growing more intolerant by the day. People know a lot of facts nowadays, but apparently emotional intelligence isn’t necessary anymore.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I do firmly believe I’m doing what I was born to do, just in my own way. I believe I was born to help people achieve their goals. Lucky for me, I’ve been able to put myself in a position where that’s the goal in my personal and professional lives.
