Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wallace.
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began dancing just one day a week, which quickly grew into five days a week and eventually led me to join a competitive team. I was honored to compete at an elite level, qualifying for and winning Scottish, English, British, European, International, and North American titles. Dance gave me the opportunity to travel the world as a child and perform on incredible stages.
At 16, I moved to London to further my training at two of the most prestigious dance colleges in Europe—first at Laine Theatre Arts and later graduating with my degree from London Studio Centre. After graduating, I secured a contract with Disney Cruise Line, where I began as a dancer before progressing into leadership roles. I had the privilege of installing and staging many productions for the company while continuing to perform. My career with Disney allowed me to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States—an unforgettable experience made possible by hard work, passion, and dedication.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey to where I am today has been nothing short of extraordinary — fun, exciting, and full of moments I’ll never forget. But it hasn’t always been an easy road. There have been many times where I’ve questioned myself, both as a dancer and as a performer. Along the way, I’ve been influenced by so many different people: some of the kindest souls you could ever meet, who inspired me and shaped the person I dreamed of becoming.
I’ve also crossed paths with people who weren’t so kind, and as a young girl growing up in the world of Performing Arts, that can be incredibly hard. This industry teaches you a lot — about resilience, about confidence, and about who you truly want to be.
There have been challenges and sacrifices too. Long hours, late nights, and long stretches of time away from family and friends. I’ve missed out on things. I chose dance when others chose rest.
But my love for Performing Arts has always pulled me forward. Knowing that I can travel, grow, and give my students the experiences and opportunities I was lucky enough to have… that makes every sacrifice, every tear, every tired morning, and every late night worth it.
I wouldn’t change my journey for anything. It shaped me — and it continues to shape the teacher, mentor, and performer I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Creative Director and Creative Consultant, and I also teach all technical dance classes at my studio however, we do have an incredible teaching faculty who teach vocals, tumbling, acrobatics and more!
I am fully certified under the British Association of Teachers of Dancing, which means I am held to the highest standards. This requires me to continue my training, complete teaching exams, and stay up-to-date with best practices — all to ensure the education, safety, and well-being of the children in my care.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working on large-scale productions with Disney, from Star Wars and Marvel to new Holiday enhancements, as well as choreographing major ski productions. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on creativity, discipline, and storytelling in performance.
In my teaching, I specialize in creating a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment for children, where learning is fun and possibilities feel endless. I aim to inspire students to dream big, explore their creativity, and develop confidence, all while ensuring their safety and well-being. Watching my students grow, take risks, and achieve things they once thought impossible is the most rewarding part of my work.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I think success means something different to everyone. I have students who go on to book Broadway tours, cruise ship shows, or become backing dancers for some of the biggest names in the industry. And while those accomplishments are incredible, the version of “success” that I value the most often looks a little different.
To me, the biggest success story is the little girl who comes into the studio just to make friends, who finds joy in dance, and who, like a butterfly, gradually learns to spread her wings. It’s the student who steps on stage with a beaming smile for the very first time, or the one who finally masters a skill we’ve been working on for weeks or months.
Success is seeing growth, confidence, and happiness bloom in my students — whether it’s on a global stage or simply in the safe, joyful space of our studio. Those moments are priceless, and they remind me why I do what I do every single day.
