Today we’d like to introduce you to Davalous Wynn.
Hi Davalous, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Davalous Wynn and my story started in 1994 on January 17th. My mother was very young in her teenage years when she birthed me so me and her basically grew up together. I am the oldest of her four kids. And I am somewhere in the middle of the pack of my father’s 12+ kids. I spent majority of my time being an older brother to the three siblings on my mother’s side and that is the foundation of who I am today. You’re lucky in this life to have a family you like and care for, and that cares for you. I grew up in Orlando and went to a small private, majority black/Christian school from age 4 until the end of my 9th grade year. Transferring to public school for the first time in 10th grade changed my perspective of the world. From 100 kids in private school to over 4,000 kids in public school, the transition was eye opening to say the least. Introduction to cultures, races and different types of people was an experience that changed me and my lifestyle. This time in my life was very important to the crafting of my personal styles from clothing to being an athlete, and being viewed by the public as someone with influence. Many admirers came along and that showed me people were paying attention and observing who I was becoming. Those three years of public high school prepped me for college. I moved to Miami in 2012 where I started my college tenure. Studying the arts, writing, acting, sociology/psychology, business, etc. was a next level elevated experience for me. I grew into the artist that I am today there in Miami. I was influenced and inspired by almost everything I saw in some way or another. Having a photographic memory, and a mind that took words and their meanings and put them together in ways that I didn’t know I could became my lead talent. Observe. Think. Write. Telling story through poetry, script writing, and stage performance were skills I developed on Barry University’s campus. I was blessed to have many experiences during this time and meet amazing figures that I was able to learn from. I wish I could share it all. In 2017 I started a new journey working with a media company where I’ve learned how to professionally operate digital cameras, design and build creative sets, model, learn lighting techniques and so much more. Very fortunate to work in a field that I want to be apart of. The traveling that I was afforded through work inspired early creations of film and writing. A lot of self discovery was forged through the many attempts at creating and understanding the world around me, and ultimately the world within me. Today I serve as a leader in the Orlando sector of the company, while being able to afford the personal time to flourish into the artist I’ve been cultivating for years. This year in 2025 I released my first studio album, Opus, with 13 original songs, my second original music video, and my third short film.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Roads can be smooth for a while until enough natural occurrences happen and then you have some cracks, or holes. Usually if you’re focused, you can spot these and avoid them, but sometimes maybe you’re moving too fast or maybe it’s nighttime and too dark out to see. Either way when things happen that are unexpected and it halts you bit, there is no excuse in life that you can make for not continuing to move forward and progress. I’ve had many struggles in life be it self doubt, self acceptance at times, wanting to be accepted or trying to fit in, giving too much energy to things or people that didn’t reciprocate the energy I gave.. many struggles; however, my biggest power play in life has been my ability to let go and move forward. I learned this the hard way but it has paid dividends in my personal growth and development.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have always been a quiet and observant person since a young age. Very aware and in tune with my spirit. My energy is something that people I encounter constantly tell me feels different and more genuine than the rest. I think just having a natural care for myself and for those I meet caries weight and it means something to others to be a good person. We come from a world where being tough is the mask for insecurity. Your experiences will make you tough and build your character, but being kind is the secret. However, duality is what makes this world exist, and we are apart of what the world is made of. So we all have a light and a dark side that we must be fully immersed in, in order to get the most out of ourselves and our experience in this lifetime. I tend to take my perspectives and put them in creative writing form. There is a balance to madness and I am proud of the way I have grown in understanding this balance and used the duality to expand my growth. I ultimately will to continue to get better every day, and both help personally some, when I can; and inspire many, always.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Make the most of your time. Do not let too much of your time be wasted. Use time to your advantage. And most of all, take your time. Don’t set yourself up to have to rush, let alone allow someone else to speed you up. Use resources that you are connected to. Get connected to people who are where you want to be or those who are aligned with similar values and ambitions, but maintain your sense of self, spirit and intuition. Love yourself and be grateful for every moment. Confidence is built through consistent preparation. Take care of your mind. Feed it with good/positive/forward moving thoughts and information. Do not be shaken by losses for it’s not about the loss or the missed shots… those are inevitable. You become infused with vigor and determination once you realize that if you’re breathing, you can redirect, and pivot into a better version of yourself at will.
