Inspiring Conversations with Anita Anthony-Stoutt of Connect the Dots Learning Academy LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Anthony-Stoutt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I like to say that education showed up in my life long before I realized it was meant for me. Every time I visited my mom’s classroom, I connected with the students without even trying. She would watch me interact with them and say, “Anita, you are a teacher. You just do not see it yet.” At the time, I did not see it either, but her words stayed with me.

I began my college journey at Valencia and earned my Associate of Science degree in Computer Information Technology. My original plan was to continue in a technical field. When I transferred to UCF, something shifted in my heart and I felt a strong pull toward Early Childhood Education. Because of the specific track of my degree, I did not have a requirement to complete an internship in a classroom. Even without that formal placement, I still found myself drawn to teaching moments and hands-on learning experiences. Once I finally stepped into my first classroom, everything clicked and I knew I had found the work I was meant to do.

For the next decade, I poured my heart into education. I taught 2nd and 3rd grade, transitioned into an instructional coach role, and later became the testing coordinator for a K-8 school. I loved the kids. I loved the families. I loved the possibility that lived inside every learner. Over time, I also began to notice a need for something more. Students needed support that honored how uniquely they learn. Families needed compassionate guidance. Educators needed research informed strategies that were practical and empowering.

During that season of reflection, I felt God nudging me toward a new direction. It was not the easiest decision and it required faith, trust, and courage, but I knew I had to follow His lead. I stepped away from the traditional school system and walked into a mission that felt bigger than me.

That step of obedience became the foundation of Connect the Dots Learning Academy. What began as tutoring has grown into a holistic learning experience that blends creativity, neuroscience informed practices, structure, and heart. I help students build confidence and skills. I support families through important educational decisions. I equip educators with tools that bring clarity and joy back into their classrooms.

My story is not a straight line. It is a series of moments that guided me toward the purpose I once overlooked. Every season, every detour, and every quiet whisper prepared me for the work I am blessed to do today. I am grateful that I listened to God’s direction and stepped into a mission rooted in connection, growth, and meaningful learning for students, families, and educators.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been meaningful and rewarding, but it has not always been smooth. Any time you step into something rooted in purpose, you can expect moments that stretch you. Leaving the traditional school system required faith and courage, and even though I knew I was following God’s lead, it was still a major shift. I had to navigate fear, uncertainty, and the pressure of building something new from the ground up.

In the early stages of Connect the Dots Learning Academy, I faced challenges that many entrepreneurs know well. I had to learn how to run a business while also staying true to my heart for education. There were seasons when I questioned if I was doing enough or if I was moving in the right direction. There were long nights filled with planning, creating, and problem solving. Balancing the needs of students, families, and the behind the scenes work often required patience and a lot of grace.

One of the biggest challenges was expanding my work beyond what people traditionally expect from a tutoring program. I wanted families to experience a level of personalization, connection, and creativity that felt completely different from the typical model. Building that vision took time, structure, and trust. I had to develop systems, refine my approach, and show families what holistic learning could look and feel like.

Through every challenge, God continued to make a way. Doors opened that I could not have planned for on my own. Families began sharing their stories. Students started thriving. Educators reached out for support. With each step, I was reminded that the journey would not be perfect, but it would be worth it.

The challenges shaped me into a stronger, more grounded leader. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of relying on faith rather than fear. I am grateful for every obstacle because each one prepared me to serve students, families, and educators with clarity, compassion, and purpose.

We’ve been impressed with Connect the Dots Learning Academy LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Connect the Dots Learning Academy is a holistic educational services company that supports students, families, and educators through unique personalized learning experiences. I like to describe it as a place where instruction meets intention and where learning feels warm, creative, and purposeful.

I specialize in helping students build strong foundations in reading and math, especially those who need support that goes deeper than what they receive in a traditional classroom setting. My work is rooted in research informed practices, hands-on learning, a whole-child lens, and a strong understanding of how the brain learns best. I support families who are navigating important educational decisions and I provide professional development for educators who want practical strategies they can use immediately. I also offer learning space design for families, schools, and community learning spaces so students can learn in environments that feel organized, calming, and aligned with their natural learning rhythms.

I am the founder and the face behind Connect the Dots, and my husband and I are proud co-owners of the business. Although I am the one families see most often, we are both the brains behind the vision. We share the planning, the strategy, the late night brainstorming sessions, and the dreams for the impact this work can make. His support and insight are woven into the heart of this business, and I am grateful that we get to build it together.

What sets Connect the Dots apart is the intention behind everything we create. We use a neuroscience informed approach that honors how students process and retain information. This approach helps us tailor instruction in ways that reduce cognitive overload, support executive functioning, and make learning feel achievable for every child. Each learning plan is customized to the individual learner. Every interaction with a family is grounded in connection and clarity. I am known for blending creativity with high quality instruction and for making learning feel approachable, fun, and meaningful. I do not believe in one size fits all education. I believe in honoring each learner’s strengths and needs.

Brand wise, I am most proud of the experience families feel the moment they begin working with us. Connect the Dots is more than a tutoring program. It is a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel seen and encouraged, parents feel guided and empowered, and educators feel equipped with tools that bring joy and clarity into their classrooms. The warm, calming aesthetic, the personalized resources, and the holistic approach are all intentional. Everything reflects our mission to serve with excellence.

Our offerings include personalized tutoring for K-12, homeschool support, academic coaching, family education resources, educator workshops, and learning space design. Every service is created with care and purpose. Everything we do is rooted in the belief that learning should feel meaningful and possible for every learner.

Connect the Dots Learning Academy was built on faith, service, and a genuine love for helping learners discover their potential. It is an honor to walk alongside families and educational communities as they take their next step.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time in my mom’s classroom long before I ever imagined becoming an educator myself. I loved watching her teach, seeing the joy on her students’ faces, and feeling the sense of community she created. I did not fully understand it at the time, but those moments planted the earliest seeds of the work I do today.

I remember helping sharpen pencils, organizing books, and listening to her read aloud with so much passion. It felt like stepping into a little world filled with creativity and possibility. Looking back, those quiet moments of being in her classroom shaped my heart for education more than I realized. They are memories that still make me smile and remind me where my love for learning and teaching began.
