Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Lewis.

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I hit rock bottom just two months after giving birth to my second son. My life was unraveling. I was a married single mother with two babies, and day by day I was losing feeling and movement throughout my body. I felt defeated, isolated, and desperate for help. One night, sitting on the edge of my bed, I cried out to God and asked Him to step into my situation. In that moment, I clearly heard Him say, “I’m going to heal you.” Those words ignited something deep within me. I went to sleep replaying them over and over in my mind. The very next day, a neurologist diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis.

What followed was a year that changed everything. My faith rose like never before. Despite being told my feeling and movement might never return, my body began to heal. I regained sensation and strength, I filed for divorce, began writing a book, focused on my sons and my health and most importantly, I kept God at the center of it all. That made all the difference. Jesus met me in the fire, and He has walked beside me every step of the way since.

Today, by God’s grace, I am living proof of His faithfulness. I have published a book and am working on the next, created handmade prayer journals available in both English and Spanish, host the Jess My Thoughts Podcast, and lead weekly Bible studies at coffee shops throughout Central Florida. None of this would be possible without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who took my brokenness and turned it into purpose.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. The more I leaned into Jesus, the more resistance I felt from the enemy and that’s exactly what happens when you walk in the truth of Jesus Christ. Many people believe that once you find God, life suddenly becomes easy. But the reality is, you’re not stepping into comfort, you’re stepping onto a battlefield. The real war is spiritual.

Along this journey, I’ve had to rewire my thinking and choose obedience over what society labels as “normal” or “right.” I’ve lost friendships I once believed would last forever, and I’ve had family members tell me I was crazy. At first, the losses hurt deeply and the words cut even deeper. But God has been faithful through it all. Faithful to heal, faithful to restore, and faithful to replace what was lost with something far better.

What the enemy meant to break me, God used to strengthen me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
By trade, I am an athletic trainer. I specialize in injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, and rehabilitation. In short, I’m the person who runs onto the field during a game to assess and care for an injured athlete. Anyone who knows me knows I’m the go-to person when an ache or pain shows up. What I love most about this role is that it allows me to meet new people every day. While the circumstances that bring us together aren’t always ideal, they consistently open the door to share hope and often, the gospel.

I’ve been licensed for thirteen years, and what I’m most proud of isn’t found in any job description. It’s reconnecting with former athletes and students and hearing their testimonies about how they found Jesus. Those moments are deeply fulfilling and remind me that purpose often lives beyond the professional title.

What I believe sets me apart is my ability to read the room, meet people where they are, and genuinely connect so I can serve them well while offering a glimpse of who God is through my actions and words. That same heart has led me to branch out as an author, podcast host, bible study leader, and a passionate intercessor for others.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Of course. First and foremost, the bible is my foundation. It guides me and helps me live life to the best of my ability. Beyond that, I’m an avid reader who is constantly consuming material I feel led to by the Holy Spirit. And if I’m not listening to music during my car rides, you can almost guarantee I’m tuned into a podcast. Some of my favorite voices to learn from and be encouraged by include Nick Jones, Isaiah Robin, and Millie from The Kingdom of God Matters.
