Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Harshaw.
Hi Kimberly , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Back in early 2015, I started in real estate, but as an investor. My focus was fix and flips in the Jacksonville, fl area. I did this all while working and living in Virginia. In late 2017, I decided to quick my day job and move to Florida Saint Augustine). After 3 months of being here, I decided that I should get my sales license. Which I did and joined a local boutique brokerage, where I was trained by the broker himself. After working the Jacksonville area for over a year, I decided to move to the orlando area. I saw more opportunity here. I joined another brokerage, yet a lot smaller. The owner of the brokerage focused on RE investing, after a few years there and in 2023 qualifying for my brokers license, I decided to obtain my broker’s and the beginning of 2024 I opened my own brokerage. A year later I added agents and property management. I’m a Thompson brokerage as we are not affiliated with NAR or the local Board.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hadn’t been. The first year I opened my brokerage it was the lowest home sales and almost 30 years. I had more overhead expense with an office, etc., and took a hit in my income.. but the following year I bounced back.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a real estate brokerage and focuses on sales and property management. We do not have brokerage transaction fees like other brokerages. Our agents don’t have to pay all the other board or membership fees like most agents do. Our goal is to bridge the deals and build the future through real estate. Understanding re investments.
Every year and every deal I give a % back to charity. That charity is called Anti-predator project, fighting against human trafficking. . I volunteer with and im also the director of victim and family services where we take all cases related to human trafficking.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Living on a farm at a young age. I had so much freedom and I could run wild. Once we left I had restrictions. I wasn’t used to that. I Could ride my bike all over and then that changed to just down the street and back was an adjustment.
