Rising Stars: Meet Ivette Tirri of Saint Cloud

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivette Tirri.

Hi Ivette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From Logistics Expert to Community-Focused Business Owner
With over 17 years of experience in logistics and manufacturing, I always had a deep understanding of the industry’s inner workings. Having worked with major carriers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL, I gained invaluable insights and forged strong professional relationships.
The idea to open The UPS store came naturally. A trusted friend/vendor recommended it, and it felt like the perfect opportunity. Driven by a passion for outstanding customer service, I knew that business was more than just transactions—it was personal. This philosophy shaped the way the store was run, ensuring every customer received a warm, personalized experience.
But the store’s success is not just about my dedication. It’s also a testament to the amazing team up front. Their commitment to excellence and the support they receive have been key to the store’s growth. By providing the team with the right tools and resources, I ensure that everyone can contribute to a positive, thriving environment.
In the end, it’s this blend of experience, genuine care, and teamwork that makes the store not just a business, but a beloved part of the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a smooth road so far. I was told early on that there would be trial and error, but that I would be okay—and I took that advice to heart. I chose to move forward, learn as I go, and grow from any mistakes along the way.

The main challenge I’ve encountered is making sure customers understand the different costs and that not everything can always be free. Helping people comes naturally to me, and if I could give everything away, I truly would. However, running a store means we have certain guidelines to follow. My goal is always to be there for our customers, support them, and provide clear knowledge so they feel informed and cared for.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have over 17 years of experience in logistics and manufacturing, and today I am the owner of a UPS Store. My work focuses on shipping and pack, printing, mailbox services, shredding, faxing, notary and helping customers find the best solutions for their personal and business needs. I specialize in customer service—taking the time to listen, educate, and guide people so they feel confident in the decisions they’re making.

I am known for being hands-on, approachable, and genuinely caring. I believe business is personal, and I treat every customer the way I would want my own family to be treated. Whether someone walks in with a simple question or a complicated problem, my goal is to help in any way I can—even if that means finding an alternative solution that may not be the easiest.

What I am most proud of is my team and the environment we’ve built together. Our store is doing well not just because of the services we offer, but because of the consistent, high-quality customer experience my team provides. I make it a priority to give them the tools, training, and support they need to succeed, and in return they show up every day with dedication and heart.

What sets me apart from others is my balance of compassion and responsibility. I truly love helping people, but I also understand the importance of running a business with integrity, transparency, and clear communication—especially when it comes to pricing and expectations. Customers trust us because we are honest, knowledgeable, and always willing to take the extra time to explain and support them.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t see myself as a reckless risk-taker, but I do believe in taking calculated, thoughtful risks when they align with experience, preparation, and purpose. For me, risk isn’t about jumping blindly—it’s about trusting what I know, doing the work, and being willing to step outside of my comfort zone to grow.

One of the biggest risks I took was transitioning from many years in logistics and manufacturing into owning and operating The UPS Store. While I had extensive industry knowledge, owning a business came with new responsibilities—financial commitment, leadership, and the reality that success depended on my decisions and my ability to serve others well. It was a leap, but one I made after listening to trusted advice, asking questions, and preparing myself as much as possible.

I was told early on that there would be trial and error, and instead of fearing that, I embraced it. I view mistakes as part of the learning process, as long as you’re willing to reflect, adjust, and move forward with integrity. That mindset has helped me stay grounded, adapt quickly, and continue improving both personally and professionally.

My approach to risk is rooted in accountability and care—for my customers, my team, and the business. I weigh the impact of decisions, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for outcomes. In my experience, the most meaningful growth often comes from stepping forward even when there isn’t a guaranteed outcome, as long as you’re prepared to learn and lead through it.
