Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashod Webb.
Hi Rashod, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always wanted to own a business, but for a while, I couldn’t find anything that I was passionate enough about to really stay motivated to stick with. I have my hands in many things, but I believe in running a sustainable business, you have to have more than just a skillset. With the ups and downs of running a business, the passion you have for what you do, and the reasons for why you started in the first place work to encourage you when you have your challenging days at the office. So my passion is storytelling, and photography is one of my favorite tools to use in doing so. Originally I wanted to record interviews of individuals that had their own story to tell. So I picked up a camera and began learning how to use it. It just so happened not too long finding my way around my camera, a friend of mine invited me to his daughter’s birthday party, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to play with the camera and practice what I had learned so far. And boy, am I glad that I did. I took a lot of pictures that day, and once I uploaded the images to my computer, I know that this was something I could do for a while. I hope to get back to videography, but right now, my community seems to enjoys storytelling through portraits.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an enjoyable journey because starting, I didn’t have any expectations; I just wanted to tell the story better. As long as I was growing, I didn’t really see the challenges as bumps in the road or struggles. I saw them as opportunities to be better than yesterday.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a growing photographer. My specialty is headshots, but I’ve shot more youth sports photography than anything else. What sets me apart from others is my ability to calm the client. When most clients leave a session with me, they leave having gained a friend.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as reaching goals that you’ve planned to achieve.
