We started Sunshine Ankle & Foot Experts with a simple mission: to build the kind of podiatry practice we always wished existed — one that blends exceptional medical care, cutting-edge technology, and a truly warm, patient-centered experience. Our journey began long before the clinic opened. As podiatric physicians, we saw firsthand how many patients bounced between offices, paperwork, and long wait times, all while dealing with painful conditions that affected their entire quality of life. We knew there had to be a better way.
When we launched Sunshine Ankle & Foot Experts, it was just us, a vision, and a deep belief that patients deserved more. We wanted a practice that felt modern, efficient, and compassionate — the opposite of the rushed, outdated healthcare environments so many people were used to. We started small, but with a clear plan: invest in innovation, streamline the patient experience, and treat every person like family.
Over time, that philosophy resonated with the community. We grew rapidly, opening multiple locations across Central Florida, integrating state-of-the-art treatments, and building a team that shares the same passion for patient care. Today, our clinics blend advanced medical technology — from convenient intake systems to research-level diagnostic tools — with an atmosphere that feels personal and uplifting.
Getting here was not always easy. Growing a practice while navigating the business side of medicine, and taking financial risks to expand required a lot of grit. But every challenge shaped the practice into what it is today: a fast-growing, community-focused, and innovation-driven podiatry group that is redefining foot and ankle care in Florida.
Sunshine Ankle & Foot Experts exists because we believed there was a better way to care for patients — and today, seeing our clinics full of families, athletes, workers, and seniors who trust us with their health reminds me why we started. We’re still growing, still innovating, and still just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to building Sunshine Ankle & Foot Experts has not been smooth, and in many ways the challenges we faced have shaped who we are as a practice today. Like many healthcare teams stepping into entrepreneurship and rapid growth, we discovered early on that delivering exceptional medical care is only one part of running a successful practice.
One of our biggest challenges was building a thriving, multi-location clinic while managing the realities of family life, community commitments, and the everyday demands of patient care. There were many long nights where, after treating patients all day, we were still developing workflows, refining systems, and creating the infrastructure that keeps our practice running smoothly today. Balancing those responsibilities required collective discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
Financial growth brought its own hurdles. Expanding locations, investing in advanced technology, and maintaining cash flow amid insurance delays and reimbursement complexities forced us to become stronger, more strategic business operators. Every obstacle — from navigating denials to budgeting for equipment — taught us valuable lessons that improved our efficiency and strengthened our foundation.
Staffing and building the right team were also major challenges. Like many medical practices, we experienced turnover, training demands, and periods of understaffing. Those experiences pushed us to develop better leadership systems, clearer communication, and a culture rooted in accountability and compassion.
Even our biggest strengths today — technology, automation, and innovation — began as challenges. Integrating new tools, customizing our EMR, building digital patient flows, and streamlining back-office operations required countless hours of trial, error, and iteration. But with every challenge came growth, and those efforts transformed our practice into one of the most modern and efficient podiatry clinics in Central Florida.
Looking back, none of these challenges were easy, but they were essential. They made us more adaptable, more innovative, and more unified as a team. In many ways, the obstacles became the fuel that drives us forward.

We’re already planning additional clinics to serve more communities, with a focus on accessibility, modern design, and a seamless patient experience.
We’re also elevating our clinical offerings by investing in advanced diagnostics, minimally invasive procedures, regenerative medicine, and research partnerships. Our goal is to bring hospital-level technology into a private practice environment so patients can get the most comprehensive care possible without long waits or multiple referrals.
A major milestone we’re incredibly proud of is being voted #1 Best Podiatrist in Central Florida for 2025. This recognition reinforces the heart behind our practice and motivates us to keep raising the standard of podiatric care in our region.
