Hidden Gems: Meet Nydia Marrero of Zen Living Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nydia Marrero.

Hi Nydia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Orlando, Florida directly from my hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico shortly after completing my bachelor’s degree in Finance at the University of Puerto Rico. I came with a clear purpose: to pursue my master’s degree at UCF and build a meaningful future.

I entered the workforce immediately, taking my first job as a telemarketer for a timeshare resort, selling vacation packages over the phone. Not long after, I was recruited by a mortgage company my first true introduction to the real estate industry. I thrived in that role, but the demands were intense, often requiring 12–16-hour workdays, and I was only 24 at the time.

Driven to grow, I earned my real estate license and relocated to Miami, where I gained invaluable experience working with a boutique firm and assisting investors during a dynamic market cycle. Then came 2008. The market crashed, and real estate as we knew it was thrown into chaos.

I returned to Orlando and started over at what many would consider the worst possible moment. Yet challenging times present only two choices: remain stuck or rise and transform. I chose transformation.

In 2010, I became a broker and founded my own company. Since then, I have proudly served the Orlando and Central Florida community with joy, passion, integrity, and care, guiding clients through every chapter of their real estate journey with clarity, confidence, and heart.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sort of, it’s being more about working with your mindset all the time, overcoming the fear of rejection and embracing the possibilities that are endless in this industry.

We’ve been impressed with Zen Living Homes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nydia Marrero is the founder and broker of Zen Living Homes, a boutique real estate brokerage and property management firm serving Orlando and Central Florida, with an expanding international presence. At its core, Zen Living Homes was created to redefine the real estate experience transforming what is often stressful and transactional into a process grounded in clarity, trust, and intention.

Our firm specializes in residential sales, luxury and lifestyle properties, investment real estate, and full-service property management. We are especially known for working with discerning buyers, sellers, and investors who value education, transparency, and elevated service. Whether guiding a first-time homebuyer, an experienced investor, or an international client relocating or investing from abroad, our approach is always deeply personalized and strategy-driven.

What truly sets Zen Living Homes apart is the integration of mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and business excellence. We don’t just help clients buy or sell properties we help them make aligned decisions that support their lifestyle, financial goals, and long-term vision. Our clients often tell us they feel heard, protected, and empowered throughout the process, which is the highest compliment we can receive.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the culture we have built one rooted in integrity, compassion, professionalism, and community impact. Zen Living Homes is not a high-volume, one-size-fits-all brokerage. We are intentionally boutique, allowing us to deliver concierge-level service while maintaining meaningful relationships with our clients and partners.

Beyond transactions, our brand is committed to giving back through community-focused initiatives and education. We believe real estate is a powerful vehicle for stability, generational wealth, and personal transformation, and we take that responsibility seriously.

What I want readers to know most is this: Zen Living Homes is for those who want more than a transaction. It’s for those who want guidance, intention, and a trusted partner who moves with clarity, care, and purpose every step of the way.

What were you like growing up?
I loved dancing, connecting with others and I am a very balanced person. I like harmonious spaces and creating opportunities for myself and for others. Extremely optimistic and calm both are my superpowers.
