Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsay Miksa.
Hi Chelsay , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a mom of 3, we were always looking for things to do for kids to have fun and get some sort of enrichment. We were always driving 30minutes to an hour to find something to do like the children’s museums in Orlando or Lakeland which can be difficult with small children. We decided to open Imagination Village indoor play center in Groveland since both my husband and I both grew up here and the area is growing very quickly with new families moving to the area. Our design focused on a kid sized village with a construction zone, fire department, grocery store, veterinary office, farm, and pizza shop where children can use their imaginations and pretend to work at the different places around the “village.” We also have a strong focus on STEM activities like our light table where kids can build a bright colored creation, the Flight Lab where kids can experiment to see what will fly in the wind tunnel. And of course, kids also need a space to get the wiggles out so there are multiple climbers, slides, and a jumper they can move and groove with! The community has loved Imagination Village so far in our first year in business and its been so nice to see new friendships made between children and new friendships between moms, dads, grandparents, or nannies that bring children to play!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Its been pretty smooth… There’s definitely a learning curve for marketing and what works as far as events are concerned. The biggest struggle I’ve encountered is just trying to juggle the play center, our bee farm, our kids activities (band, volleyball, baseball, FFA). I have also recently been diagnosed with some health issues that we are currently trying to navigate along with everything else
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Imagination Village indoor play center is an indoor playground for kids 0-10 where kids can put down the screens and use their imaginations while exploring the kid sized village made just for them! They can put out fires with the fire department, go shopping or work the register in the Half Foods grocery store, make delicious pizzas in the pizza shop, help our furry friends in the veterinary office, discover their love for farming at the farm, or engineer a building at the construction zone. All of our areas are meant to mingle, so the farm can grow flowers that can be used in the flower shop, or the pizza shop can deliver lunch to the firehouse, or the grocery store can buy their eggs and veggies to sell! On top of our open play hours, we also specialize in amazing birthday experiences. Birthdays at home can be hectic, messy, and overwhelming. We take all the stress from planning, decorating, and cleaning off the family so they can enjoy the company of their friends and guests while celebrating the special birthday boy or girl! Imagination Village is definitely known for our dedication to a clean and safe play experience for our guests. We use a hospital grade, non-toxic disinfectant on all our surfaces multiple times daily.
We have multiple ways to play: $15/$12sibling open play with unlimited play times on weekdays, punch cards at discounted play rates, & memberships. We also offer 3 different birthday party packages to suit any budget.
How do you think about luck?
I always try to take the good with the bad… we’ve had our fair share of good luck and bad luck.
