Daily Inspiration: Meet Dante Fleming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dante Fleming.

Hi Dante, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had an interest for movies since I was a child. I wanted to be an actor. Started by taking classes at 13 and made skits to hone the craft and did comedy. In my late teens, filmmaking started to come in; so I made my first short film when I was 19. I was destined to pursue the career until the pandemic came, which made me quit eventually and also this belief where the dream felt light years away. Around the time from 2020-2023, I didn’t want anything to do with film but I needed an income. So I did videography; I was doing music videos, b-rolls, live events, etc. Eventually, films, telling narratives slowly made me fall in love again and decide to give it one more chance in 2023, it was hard to find like-minded people for it. So, I put my pride to the side and said I’m gonna go to film school. And I did. After graduating, I networked, made connections, booked gigs, improved my skills in both acting and filmmaking. I wrote and directed 7 short films, 3 are currently in festivals. Currently, I’m planning to develop my first feature film.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. The struggles came with constantly switching and adapting plans, financial struggles, comparisons, imposter syndromes, self-doubt, anxiety, depression. It’s a challenge. But, I’m not going to let that stop me from my dreams. My purpose in life is to give hope and that is what keeps me going. And I’m going to continue to grow and improve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I act and make films. I also do videography. I’m known for taking challenging complex roles and telling deep stories. I’m mostly proud of how resilient I became. What sets me apart is finishing what I start; saying then doing.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I love martial arts. I love it. It’s always been a big part of my life. It keeps me focused, in line, and disciplined. Even though I do this film and acting full-time, it’ll never stop from keeping my mind body and spirit sharp from martial arts. And I always keep in touch with the fellow practitioners.
