Hidden Gems: Meet Corina Andino of The Bruja’s Table

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corina Andino.

Corina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Magical Latina started when I was working a boring corporate job. I was different and by different I mean a big nerd! I had Harry Potter merch all over my desk and people surrounding me who lacked imagination. So, I made an Instagram page to share nerdy things. I initially wanted to share everything the theme parks (Disney & Universal) had to offer. I’ve always been a lifelong fan of Harry Potter & Disney and all of the magic behind it. I would share photos around the park and provide updates on events and merchandise. I soon realized I wanted to show the face behind the page… That is when everything changed. I had so many people reach out in response to my post and in conclusion realized there needs to be more representation within fandoms. Together a group of friends and I created Masterful Magical Minorities a page on Instagram where individuals of all background can celebrate their differences while being a part of a magical community. Through M.M.M. I’ve met so many creative individuals who all want to see each other succeed. Together we work to help each other reach our goals.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For me, this has been a way to express my creativity and meet like-minded people. It was tough at the beginning putting myself out there as a plus size latina. Some comments were harsh but it only made me stronger and confident to love myself even more.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Bruja’s Table is the name of my future witchy themed Puerto Rican Eatery. This has been my life dream since my abuelas (grandmas) taught me how to cook and used to call me a little bruja (little witch) when I was young. In early 2020 that dream was to become a reality. Unfortunately, like many in the industry I had to stop from opening. This led me to make and sell my homemade SADOBO seasoning blend that I use for all my dishes.

Growing up my Abuelas and I would season all of our food with Sazon and Adobo. I quickly learned combined, create the perfect all-purpose blend. This is when SADOBO came to life. The first of its kind NO MSG, Vegan, No Dyes, No Preservatives, and Gluten free. This blend is a staple that will be used at The Bruja’s Table. My goal is to continue working towards opening a small location in Orlando. Most recently I’ve launched private themed dinners and personal chef services.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when my little sister and I made a promised to always have each other’s back and to be there for one another.
