Hi Joseph and Marissa , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our journey began back in 2009 when we crossed paths at Norfolk State University, and since then, we’ve celebrated more than a decade of marriage. In 2017, we couldn’t help but notice a concerning trend in our society – the diminishing value placed on the sacred institution of marriage. Driven by our deep faith and having triumphed over our own marital challenges, we felt a calling to take action. Our first meetup was with two couples in Rockville, MD in September 2017. Since then we’ve hosted more that 35 meetups, participated in 3 summits, hosted 2 retreats and reach couples globally.
We’ve braved intercultural hurdles, financial intimacy struggles, and the feeling of isolation in marriage. Our journey has touched the lives of many. Together, we’ve dedicated our ministry to empower and support Christian millennial couples in achieving the lasting, fulfilling marriages that God both desires and designs for them. The foundation of our mission lies in creating a tight-knit community, our cherished “village,” of Christian millennial couples.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of our struggles and challenges came from working in our careers and operating this full time while expanding our family. We didnt have the same capactiy anymore. In 2020 Marissa left her 9-5 and operated Forever Marriages full time just as the pandemic hit and things shut down. The demand for support grew, however we had to pivot to being primarily online with workshops, prayer calls, meetups.

Forever Marriages exists to help couples build marriages that reflect the Gospel through Christ, Community, and Continual Learning.
We believe strong marriages aren’t built by finding the perfect spouse, but by continually growing into the husband and wife God has called us to be. Our mission is to move couples beyond surface-level communication and conflict resolution toward heart-level transformation through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We serve couples through marriage workshops, retreats, premarital counseling, speaking engagements, digital resources, Bible studies, and practical online content. Whether a couple is newly engaged, navigating the demands of parenting, or seeking to strengthen decades of marriage, our goal is to provide biblical wisdom that is both theologically grounded and immediately practical.
What sets us apart is that we don’t simply offer marriage advice—we seek to make disciples whose marriages display the Gospel. We emphasize that healthy marriages flourish in biblical community, where couples are encouraged, challenged, prayed for, and held accountable. We believe marriage was never intended to be lived in isolation.
What we’re most proud of isn’t a program or event. It’s hearing stories of couples who begin praying together again, rediscover hope, reconcile after seasons of conflict, or become the kind of marriages that now invest in other couples. Our desire is to see marriages become living testimonies of God’s grace and faithfulness.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Trust in God and perseverance. Marriage ministry is very personal because we are not teaching from perfection but teaching from God’s faithfulness. Every challenge in our own marriage has reminded us that transformation happens when we remain rooted in Christ. Seeing God continue to refine our marriage gives us confidence that He is doing the same in the lives of the couples we serve. That conviction keeps us moving forward, even when the work is difficult.
