Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Anderson.
Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love for the beauty industry began when I was just a little girl growing up in Queens, New York. I was raised by two incredibly hardworking parents, and watching my mom and dad’s work ethic taught me early on the importance of dedication, sacrifice, and never giving up.
My mom was a fashionista and a hard worker whom ran a restaurant. Right above the restaurant was a beauty salon owned by a family member that we constantly visited. Being around that environment at such a young age introduced me to the world of beauty. My mom would allow me to get my eyebrows threaded, and I became fascinated by how something as simple as a piece of thread could create such a beautiful transformation. That curiosity eventually led me to pick up a piece of thread myself and begin learning the craft.
At 18, I officially entered the beauty industry as a makeup artist and later worked for MAC Cosmetics. After several years, I began freelancing for weddings, pageants, and events before eventually working in a salon specializing in eyebrow threading, tinting, and makeup.
I loved what I was doing, but something inside me wanted more. About nine years ago, I discovered permanent makeup, and it completely changed the direction of my career. I fell in love with creating long-lasting transformations that gave my clients confidence every single day. Eventually, I retired from traditional makeup services and dedicated myself to permanent makeup.
About seven and a half years ago, I took a leap of faith and opened my own location in the heart of Orlando on Sand Lake Road. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to serve thousands of clients and work alongside so many talented women. As my business grew, I discovered another passion—teaching and mentoring others. I began educating aspiring permanent makeup artists, sharing not only the techniques and artistry I’ve learned throughout my career, but also my experience building a business in this industry. One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been watching women I’ve worked with, taught, and mentored develop their skills, build their confidence, and create businesses and opportunities of their own.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. I’ve experienced financial struggles, major changes within my business, and personal losses that completely changed my life. Losing my mom and grandmother—two of my greatest inspirations, supporters, and best friends—challenged me in ways I could have never imagined. There were moments when I had to step away, focus on my family and mental well-being, heal, and rediscover my sense of purpose.
In many ways, my business became part of that healing. My clients gave me a reason to show up, the women around me gave me people to lead and encourage, and my family and community continued pushing me forward. Those difficult seasons gave me an even deeper appreciation for my faith, my family, my business, and the people who have supported me along the way.
Today, I thank God for giving me purpose and for every person who has been part of my journey. My definition of success is no longer simply about how far I can take my own business—it’s also about how many women I can inspire, teach, mentor, and help grow along the way.
When I think about that little girl in Queens who was fascinated by a simple piece of thread, I realize that her curiosity became a passion, that passion became a career, and that career became a purpose. I’m incredibly grateful for every chapter of my journey, everything it has taught me, and all the beautiful days and opportunities that lie ahead.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I moved out at a young age and lived independently for over years, so I learned very early what it meant to figure things out on my own. There were seasons when finances were extremely difficult. I received eviction notices more than once, had moments when I didn’t have much to eat, and constantly had to figure out how I was going to make things work. Those experiences taught me how to survive, be resourceful, and keep pushing even when I couldn’t see the way forward.
As I built my business, there were more financial struggles, sacrifices, uncertainty, and many moments when I questioned whether entrepreneurship was truly the path for me. But some of the greatest challenges of my life came when my family began experiencing tremendous loss.
When my mom’s illness took a turn for the worse, one of her requests was for me to move back home. After living independently for nearly 10 years, I packed up my home, put my belongings into storage, and moved back in with my family. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful I made that decision because it gave me something I could never put a price on—more time with my mom and grandma. I was able to be present with her, love on her, and create memories that I will carry with me forever.
Around that same chapter of my life, my grandmother unexpectedly took a fall while my mom was on hospice care. We believed she would recover and eventually come back home, but sadly, she never did. Losing my grandmother and then my mother just once apart —two of my biggest supporters, inspirations, and best friends—changed my life in ways I could have never prepared for.
During that time, I made the decision to step away from my business for a while. I knew there were moments with my family that I would never get back, and I needed time to be present, grieve, and take care of myself mentally and emotionally.
At the same time, I was also experiencing major changes within my business. Two of the girls who had worked alongside me for almost three years moved on to the next chapters of their careers. I was and still am incredibly proud of them and grateful for the years we shared, but the timing of those transitions, while I was already navigating so much loss personally, created another layer of mental and financial stress. I was grieving, trying to keep my business afloat, adjusting to changes within my team, and figuring out how to move forward all at once.
There were moments when I questioned whether I would ever genuinely feel like myself again or have the strength to continue building what I had worked so hard for. Even after my mom passed, I chose to remain living with my father. What was once a 10-minute commute to my business became almost an hour each way, but being close to my family mattered more than convenience. We needed each other through the healing process, and in many ways.
Eventually, I began pouring myself back into my business. My clients, my team, my family, and my community reminded me of the purpose behind what I had built. Slowly, my business became part of my healing and helped me rediscover my vision.
Through grief, financial struggles, team transitions, sacrifices, and moments of self-doubt, I’ve learned that life and entrepreneurship are rarely a straight road. Sometimes strength means continuing to push forward, and other times it means allowing yourself to step away and focus on what truly matters.
Most importantly, this chapter taught me that time is one of the greatest gifts we have. I will forever be grateful that I listened to my mom’s request to come home. I may have given up some independence and convenience, but what I received in return was priceless—more time with the people I loved most, a deeper appreciation for family, and memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in brows and permanent makeup, and what I love most about my work is the confidence it gives women. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a client look in the mirror and seeing that glow when she loves what she sees. Permanent makeup is about so much more than beauty—it gives women confidence, convenience, and time back in their everyday lives.
I’ve become especially known for my brow artistry, and over the years I’ve continued expanding my expertise into lip blushing and permanent eyeliner. I love being able to offer the full package and create customized enhancements that allow my clients to wake up feeling beautiful without having to spend as much time applying makeup every day.
What I’m most proud of goes beyond the services I provide. I’m proud of the business I’ve built and the opportunities I’ve been able to create for other women in the beauty industry. Being able to teach, mentor, and work alongside talented women while watching them grow their skills, careers, and businesses has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey.
I believe what truly sets me apart is that I genuinely love what I do, and I pour my heart and soul into everything I create. This has never felt like just a job to me. I truly care about my artistry, my clients, my students, my team, and the experience I provide to every person who walks through my doors. I take the time to understand each client, build trust, and create results that are customized specifically for them.
Over the years, so many of those relationships have grown far beyond their appointment with me. Clients have become friends, and many have truly become family.
For me, this has never been just about creating beautiful brows or permanent makeup. It’s about creating confidence, building meaningful relationships, and making every woman who sits in my chair feel seen, cared for, and beautiful.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is resilience. I’ve learned that success isn’t about everything going perfectly—it’s about continuing to show up, adapt, and believe in yourself even during the seasons that challenge you the most.
I also credit so much of my success to the work ethic that was instilled in me by my parents. Growing up, I watched both my mom and dad work incredibly hard, and that taught me the importance of dedication, consistency, and never expecting success to come without sacrifice.
I’m also extremely passionate about what I do. When I love something, I pour my heart and soul into it. Whether I’m working with a client, teaching a student, mentoring another artist, or building my business, I genuinely care about the outcome and the people involved.
Over the years, I’ve learned that you can be talented and have a great vision, but there will always be moments when life and business test you. Resilience is what keeps you going, passion reminds you why you started, and consistency is what eventually turns your vision into something real.
Those qualities have carried me through some of my greatest successes and some of my hardest seasons, and they continue to shape the woman, artist, educator, and business owner I am today.
