Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Michelle Francis of Pinnacle Clinical Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michelle Francis.

Hi Dr. Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Dr. Michelle Francis, a Doctor of Behavioral Health and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My story began in Jamaica and continued in South Florida, two places that shaped not only who I am, but also how I view mental health and access to care. Growing up, I witnessed the impact that untreated mental health concerns could have on individuals and families in communities where therapy was often stigmatized, misunderstood, or simply not accessible. Mental health was something many people learned to navigate privately, often believing they just had to “push through.” Even then, I remember thinking there had to be a better way.

As I progressed in my own education and career, I began seeing those same challenges from a professional perspective. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I saw how systemic barriers, limited access to culturally responsive care, and the overwhelming demand for mental health services continued to leave people feeling unheard or overlooked. I realized that I didn’t just want to work within the existing system; I wanted to create something that reflected my own vision of what mental health care could look like.

That vision became Pinnacle Clinical Solutions. I wanted to build a practice where people could show up as their full selves, feel genuinely seen, and receive care that recognizes there is much more to a person than a diagnosis or a symptom. At the heart of my work are compassion, connection, and the belief that everyone’s journey is different. For me, creating Pinnacle was not simply about opening a practice. It was about creating the kind of space I knew people needed, and helping them reach their own version of their “pinnacle.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Coming from an island and a household like the one I grew up in, I learned early on that if I wanted to find certain opportunities and resources, I had to do a lot of the research myself. Mental health was not really something we openly discussed. We handled things within the family, kept moving, and figured things out as we went. But deep down, I knew that simply handling things did not always mean they were actually being resolved. I knew there had to be more, and I knew I wanted more.

For me, “more” meant education, growth, and pushing myself beyond what was familiar. I went from undergrad to graduate school and then took on the challenging journey of becoming a Doctor of Behavioral Health. Each step required discipline, sacrifice, and a willingness to keep going even when the path was not always clear. There were plenty of moments when I could have taken the easier route, but I kept reminding myself that every level of education and experience was taking me closer to the person and professional I wanted to become.

Ultimately, creating Pinnacle Clinical Solutions, LLC was about taking everything I had learned, both personally and professionally, and turning it into something that could serve others. I wanted to create a space where people could receive support, feel understood, and have access to mental health care without feeling like they had to figure everything out on their own. Helping and pouring back into people who look like me, as well as those who don’t, has always been at the heart of what I wanted to do. Pinnacle represents reaching new heights, but for me, it is also about helping other people realize that they are capable of reaching theirs.

As you know, we’re big fans of Pinnacle Clinical Solutions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Pinnacle Clinical Solutions, I provide mental health services to individuals ages 14 and older, helping clients navigate the many challenges that come with life, relationships, and personal growth. I see clients in person in Casselberry, Florida, and provide Telehealth services throughout Florida as well as Texas, Massachusetts, and Indiana, where I am licensed. Pinnacle means “the most successful point,” and that definition is at the center of everything I do. My goal is not simply to help someone manage a diagnosis or reduce a few symptoms, but to help them move toward a greater overall well being and become the healthiest, most fulfilled version of themselves. I work with individuals navigating life transitions, relationship dynamics, substance use, identity and personal growth, and those who are trying to rediscover themselves, find a new passion, or simply figure out what comes next.

What sets Pinnacle apart is my whole person approach. I don’t believe you can separate someone’s mental health from their physical health, relationships, environment, stressors, or life experiences, so I look at the individual rather than just the symptoms sitting on a treatment plan. I bring my knowledge of behavioral and physical health together to create an approach that is unique to each person, including supporting women who are navigating the emotional and psychological impact of physical health concerns such as uterine fibroids. I also believe therapy should feel human. There is room for meaningful conversations, accountability, growth, and yes, even a little laughter. I want clients to feel like they are working with a real person who understands that life does not always fit neatly into a clinical box.

From a business perspective, Pinnacle is truly a one woman show. I wear all the hats, from therapist and clinical supervisor to business owner and everything in between. It has been a slow but steady grind, and I am actually proud of that. I have built Pinnacle intentionally, one client, one referral, and one relationship at a time. One of the things I am most proud of is that people who have worked with me are referring others to me. My client retention has also been incredibly meaningful because it tells me that people are not just coming through the door; they are finding value in the work and choosing to stay. To me, that kind of growth means more than simply building a brand. It means I am building something people trust.

In addition to clinical services, I supervise master’s level social workers in Florida who are working toward state licensure. I see supervision as an opportunity to pour back into the profession by helping emerging clinicians develop their clinical skills, confidence, professional identity, and ethical decision making. Ultimately, I want readers to know that Pinnacle is more than a therapy practice. It is a reflection of my belief that mental health care should see the whole person, meet people where they are, and help them discover what reaching their own “pinnacle” can look like.

What makes you happy?
For me, happiness comes from knowing that I played a small part in helping someone find peace of mind. There is something incredibly rewarding about being invited into someone’s journey, watching them work through the hard seasons, and eventually seeing them flourish. One of my favorite moments is when a client looks back and realizes just how far they have come. Sometimes they don’t even recognize the person who first walked into my office, and honestly, neither do I. Those moments remind me why I do what I do.

I also find happiness in the little wins that happen along the way: the client who finally sets a boundary, chooses themselves, has the difficult conversation, or realizes they are no longer responding to life from the same place they once were. Therapy is serious work, but I believe there should still be room for laughter, personality, and a little “look at you now!” energy. Being able to witness people become more confident, more self aware, and more at peace with themselves is one of the greatest rewards of my work.
