Exploring Life & Business with Pamela Ammon of PKAPhotographyFL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Ammon.

Hi Pamela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Oh my gosh, absolutely! So much has changed since we last spoke in 2022. My company, PKAPhotographyfl, has continued to grow, and along with it, the services and experiences we are able to offer our clients have expanded in ways I never imagined.

Barrel racing and pole bending will always be where our heart is. But over the past few years we have expanded into rodeos, bull riding, broncs, mutton busting, and even drag racing.
There is something incredible about photographing a cowboy whose heart, dreams, and livelihood can come down to just eight seconds on the back of an animal determined to send him or her flying. Eight seconds sounds so short until you’re standing arena-side watching it happen. Capturing the strength, determination, athleticism, and emotion of those moments is phenomenal. And at the end of every ride, no matter the score, seeing both athletes walk safely away is always the biggest win.

Then came drag racing and talk about a whirlwind! Panning photography goes against everything known to a photographer. Our first day trackside, we came home with 2,000 blurry photographs and 200 that were perfectly in focus. Immediately knew we had some work to do. So we did!

Now we capture everyshot and include videos and clips for our race teams. There is NOTHING quite like standing trackside, feeling those engines rev through your entire body while trying to capture a machine flying past you at incredible speed. Wowzah! We absolutely love it.
But through all the growth, new adventures, and crazy experiences, one thing about my business has never changed. It will always be about my clients.

We continue to build upon the elite, personalized photography experiences we offer to every client. We want to know what they dream about when they picture their photographs, and then figure out how to make it happen.

Sometimes that means working closely with a City to have streets blocked off so we can create exactly what a client envisioned. Sometimes it means hiking into shin-deep water because perfect lighting and wildflowers were found. Sometimes it means spending 14 hours with a family in labor and delivery so we can capture the exact moment they meet their newborn for the very first time.

Photography may be my profession, but the experience, the memories, and the story belong to my clients. At the end of the day, it has never been about me. It’s about giving the people who trust us something they can look back on for years and still feel exactly what they felt in that moment.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t necessarily say it has always been a smooth road, but I can honestly say it has been a blessed one.

In the beginning, I worried a lot. I worried about where the next arena would come from, where I would find my next client, my next commercial photography opportunity, editing project, or business engagement. When you build something of your own, there is always that little voice wondering, “What if the phone stops ringing?”

Over time, my faith changed the way I looked at all of it. I stopped trying to control every next step and started trusting that God would bring me where I was supposed to be. I truly believe He has a plan for me and for my business. My job is to keep working hard, keep growing, and trust the path He puts in front of me.

Interestingly enough, some of the things I once worried about the most have become my greatest sources of growth. Word of mouth continues to be the powerful force behind my growth. Meaningful customer service, genuine relationships, and consistently delivering a superior product have become some of my proudest achievements.

I have also built my business around a very simple philosophy: be the kind of business I would want to hire.

I pay attention to the things that disappoint me as a customer—the lack of communication, feeling like a number, not receiving what was promised, or losing that personal connection—and I make a conscious effort not to allow those things into my own business.

I want every client to feel important, heard, and genuinely cared for. From the first conversation to the final photograph. I’m still learning, still growing, and still finding ways to make the experience better. I don’t think I’ll ever stop perfecting it.

So, has it always been a smooth road? Maybe not. But learning to replace worry with faith, and uncertainty with hard work and trust, has probably been one of the most important parts of my journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about PKAPhotographyFL?
PKAPhotographyFL is a concierge photography company.

What does that mean? Simply put, we don’t believe our clients should have to fit into our photography business. We believe our photography business should fit around our clients. We offer both professional photography and videography services across a wide range of specialties, including equine and sports photography, rodeos, barrel racing, motorsports, portraits, special events, travel, newborn and birth photography, commercial and product photography, personal photography, funerals and celebrations of life, as well as professional image and video enhancement.

But what we photograph isn’t really what sets us apart. How we take care of our clients we photograph does.
From the beginning, I built this company around the experience I would want if I were the client. I never wanted someone to feel like a number or be forced into a standardized package filled with things they don’t need. Every client is different, every story is different, and every vision is different—so why should your photography experience be exactly the same?

We listen first. We find out what you want, what matters to you, and what you envision when you imagine the finished photographs. Then we build the experience around that. If the photograph matters to my client, it matters to me.
Our pricing philosophy is just as client-centered. We don’t believe in charging clients for things they don’t need, and we don’t photograph an entire experience only to hold those memories behind additional purchase requirements. We don’t arbitrarily limit a client’s final gallery to a predetermined number of photographs simply because that’s what a package says. We capture the story, and we deliver the story.

One of my favorite reactions is hearing a new client say, “Wait—you include that?” or “You don’t charge extra for that?” I love those moments because they tell me we are still operating exactly how I intended.
I’m incredibly proud that so much of our growth has come through word of mouth. To me, there is no greater compliment than someone trusting me with their own memories and then recommending me to someone they care about. You can’t buy that kind of advertising—you earn it.

I’m also proud that PKAPhotographyFL hasn’t had to become less personal as we’ve grown. We’ve expanded our services, challenged ourselves technically, entered new arenas and industries, and continued to raise the quality of our work, but the foundation has remained the same: exceptional imagery, meaningful customer service, and an experience built around the individual client.

At the end of the day, I don’t want PKAPhotographyFL to be known simply as a company that takes beautiful photographs. I want us to be known as the company that listened, cared, went the extra mile, and gave our clients more than they expected.

Our philosophy is pretty simple:
Dare to be different, expect more, and never settle.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are the ones I made simply spending time with my dad. I was a true daddy’s girl, and honestly, it never really mattered what we were doing—as long as I was with him, it was perfect.

Whether he was taking me to gymnastics, driving me to violin lessons and performances, or just taking me out for breakfast, those ordinary moments meant everything to me. I wasn’t focused on where we were going or what we were doing. I was just happy to be with my dad.

Looking back now, I realize those simple moments were some of the greatest gifts of my childhood. I would give anything for just one more breakfast, one more car ride, one more ordinary day by his side.

I miss him every single day, and I always will.
